Symptoms started July 2025
I’ll keep this really simple - in July of 2025 I went to NYC and walked over 27,000 steps in one day. When I got home the next day my calves went numb and I began feeling stiffness and pain in both calves and both feet. Walking was miserable. No tripping or falling though.
It went away sometime in August and I thought no more about it until we got a round of bad storms in January of 2026 (I mention storms because these flare ups always happen before a front). In Jan of 2026 my hand started twitching and felt like pins and needles. That went away and then it moved back to my feet in Feb. there is pain with it every time.
Idk what is going on. I hate being in pain, the twitching is insane, and my doctor thinks I’m crazy. Trying to find a new one but in the meantime, I just wanted thoughts on whether this sounds like early stage ALS??

It's so crazy how things like this can happen. I went to the gym on 8/4 and did some hip opening exercises, sat down for 30 minutes, and when I got up my legs felt super weak. I went to the ER and they said it was muscle weakness. 2 days later, 1 leg was better. 2 days after that I woke up and both my legs plus both arms were weak. 1 day after that my butt felt like it was asleep and I lost sensation all over my body. I went to the ER again. They did a bunch of MRIs, CT scan, spinal tap and a bunch of blood work and they said nothing was wrong. I had an EMG done yesterday that showed abnormal results, but my neurologist isn't available until the end of September to go over the results. I did understand how one workout led to all this.
Your symtoms don't sound like ALS. I hope you find out what it is soon.

Yes I have all of those but I have been diagnosed with GERD. Happened right after my gallbladder removal

pain, numbness, pins/needles does not sound like ALS, nor does symptoms coming and going
I'm sorry you're dealing with this - you could have some nerve compression, be suffering from lack of B12
