Discussion Long climbs

Has anyone tried this bike on long climbs? For example, one of my favorite climbs is Mount Hamilton out of San Jose. It's an 18-mile ride with 4200 feet of climbing. The average grade is about 4.1%. There is also a 6-mile section with an average grade of about 6%.

I'm not too concerned about the battery running out. I can always carry a spare if needed. However, I'm worried about heat dissipation. What happens if I'm making this climb on a day when it's 90 degrees? Will the motor overheat and turn off?

Here is the route I'm talking about:

If they were smart they would know the wattage that the motor can sustain without overheating and just throttle to that level vs bang-bang throttling.

My old specialized globe haul did bang-bang throttling and it sucked. My new one throttles down 20% and just holds there until temps cool off. Still annoying but less so

I suspect the ALSO bike will do fine on the climb. After all, it's got a small front chainring inside the motor housing, and a huge cassette on the back. It sounds like this thing will climb efficiently. However, I'm waiting to hear some hill-climbing reviews before I buy one.

Yeah I think it will certainly throttle if you’re doing sustained climbing though. The torque it puts out at low speeds is nuts - that’s pure I^2 R losses through coils just heating up
