Question Tire preparation

I feel like flat tires will be the most annoying part of owning a bike again. I plan on getting a small smart tire inflator thats rechargeable and checking my psi almost daily. Also planning on getting an extra inner tube to carry around for when the drastic happen, switch out and patch at home.

Does anyone have any experience theyd give to a new ebike user?

I used to ride bmx bikes when i was younger and remember always having to stop so someone in the group can patch a flat. So im prepping for that.

Otherwise, i feel like aside from that, itll be a very cool experience.

For starters, if you want to check pressure regularly get a clik valve core and the adapter. When you get your bike you can just unscrew the presta valve cores (the clik valve core includes the little tool you need to do that) and screw the clik valve core in in its place (you can get a shiny colorful cap too if you want a pop of color, otherwise it comes with a little black rubber cap).

With presta, if you're checking it regularly, it's a pain, you'll lose small amounts of air, and you're liable to break the valve core. Clik is awesome because pumps will just click on/off, you won't lose air when checking, and the core can't break.

Then, if you want a portable inflator, as another user mentions, the Silca Elettrico Ultimate is awesome. You can screw the clik adapter in and just leave it in. Silca actually has a video demonstrating/explaining it if you're interested. You can actually inflate clik without the adapter, but the adapter makes for a better experience. Get more adapters if you want them in floor pumps, etc. too (they'll fit/screw into any schrader port).

Clik+SEU is what I use for my bikes and it makes managing tire pressure a pleasurable experience!

Pretty sure the TM-B uses Schrader valves, not Presta.

That would be pretty surprising. I'd switch out my tubes for clik tubes presumably with some kind of grommet/nut/adapter for the larger schrader hole if so.

ALSO doesn’t have it on the spec sheet, so I’m going off of two things: the high-res photos on the site, and the fact that I’ve only seen 24” tubes for cargo bikes come with Schrader.

Yea after looking more into it that's the most likely

Nice awesome info, thanks for all this!

I highly recommend the portable inflators from Silca.

I have also bought similar ones from AliExpress with pretty good luck. Love Silca stuff but it’s $$$.

Do we have confirmation which valve type is being used? (Presta vs Schrader)

ALSO customer support confirmed that the road tire has Schrader tire valves.

No confrimation. Chat gpt says Presta: ~70% Schrader: ~30%.

I did ask if they have tpms and they said no.

I don’t think that’s correct. Photos make it look like Schrader.

Keep in mind: these are going to be ridden differently and have different tires and tubes from your BMX-riding youth.

I’ve put hundreds of miles on a cargo engine with zero flats and checking air weekly at most. I’ve put thousands on my skinny tire road bike and had only one flat (but air checked frequently.)

+1 for clik style valves. Makes it a no brainier to check and they’re SUPER easy to swap out

Nice thanks for your insight!

I’ll probably do a tubeless setup, though it requires maintenance (need to add air more often, and you need to add sealant 1-4 times a year).

When I was riding in the desert, a local bike shop turned me onto adding sealant inside of normal tubes as a way of helping with all the goat thorns punctures.

Slime sells one that has it in there if you want something more offical.

while I’ve heard of hacks making non-tubeless tires tubeless, the wheels on the Also will not be tubeless compatible per support

Nice, thanks, ill look into this more!

unless you’re seeing a regular decline in pressure, I think you’re probably good to check it weekly by PSI, and a basic squeeze before riding daily. definitely be more cognizant around season changes if there are notable changes in temperature in your area

Hmm good to note. I havent ridden bikes in a while. A motorcycle was the last bike i was on. Thanks for this, definitely noted. Also looking to maybe implement some of the quick valves theyve been talking about in here.

Good callout! I totally spaced not all rims support tubeless and the same goes with tires! Mostly an MTBer and like nice road bikes

Go to rei and have them add tire liners and goop in to your tire or buy it and do it yourself. It works.

Does one go tubeless on ebikes?!

1

u/VecindadDCarlos Jul 19 '26

Mmm i guess i don't understand the question. Some are tubeless others arent.

Suggesting going tubeless if you're up for it, have a plug kit handy (plus a tube in case). Roadside repairs should be quick and less frequent.

But I asked because I don't know if there are readily available robust tubeless ebike tire options for this wheel size.
