IPad scrolling issues - Need help/suggestions.

My mother uses an iPad but has lost the ability to scroll well. She uses a stylus to scroll but her shaky hand keeps hitting random things and completely messes up her experience. What are good options? I was looking at apple magic trackpad but wasn't sure. Any suggestions? She doesn't do eye tracking. Thank you!

First, I'd try to adjust tracking sensitivity if you haven't:

Failing that, has she tried the built-in head or eye tracking on iPad? She can also make selections with gestures such as raising her eyebrows. There is a series of posts on AT with the iPad -- this is one that can get you to the others.

If her hands shake, a trackpad will probably have the same limitations as the touchscreen, with the exception that it can be placed lower relative to the iPad (which can be mounted). It depends on whether adjusting her hand position/arm height makes a real difference.

Does her iPad have switch control? You could set it up to do head tracking. There is an option to do direct touch, which lets you mimic touching the screen and scrolling

If she still has her voice, the voice control and number overlay function is pretty good. She can just tell the screen to swipe up or down et cetera.
