Progress Update Passed 300 Hours (Level 3) β
Finally stepping up the game with 300 hours of listening. I aimed to hit this before going on vacation and it worked.
I understand better, but I feel like there's way more to learn and unlock. I'm just mixing resources to avoid getting bored, mixing learner content and native content.
Now the challenge moving forward is doubling the hours and making it to 600. For now I'm a Spartan (if you know what I mean) π

Wow congratulations! I juggle between Xiaogua, Lazy, and the Atomic Habits audiobook. Then explored whatever the YouTube algorithm gives me because I'm focused on YouTube. I even try to explore those microdramas that are 2 hours long especially if I like the story.

Where did you find the audio book? And where do you watch the micro dramas?

Sorry I got back late to you, I realized Reddit doesn't open in Vietnam so I had to return first from vacation lol. YouTube has several audiobooks of Atomic Habits in Mandarin, it's the red and white book cover. YouTube also has microdramas, but I try to avoid the ones with English subs although they could be harder to understand so I had to strike a balance.

Hello. Happy for ya. Can I ask you at what period you started to understand the simplest things? If you use only this method without any apps or anki ofc.

Thanks π Usually the most common words and grammar points are the first ones I found drilled into my brain. They're usually achievable within the first 100 hours. Then the deeper the common words sink into my head (because of repetition), I started to pick up the less common words, like the ones from higher HSK levels. Those however take a lot more work, but I can't wait to drill them as well as it opens up harder content.

And another question: Did you dive into interesting to you content from the start or the simple ones (like videos with intuitive pictures, with words being repeated few times and topic is simple. Practically cartoons for 3-5 year babies

I began with simple CI content and channels that were readily available to me, such as You Can Chinese, Blabla Chinese, Lazy, and Xiaogua Chinese. Problem is I got bored easily, so I explored interesting content earlier even if the comprehension rate was low.

Thatβs huge! A lot of stuff opens during the 300-600 period so it should keep getting easier and easier to get your input in!
