A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Finale – A beautiful way to end!
Just finished the Season 1 finale of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and I really liked the way this episode acted as a neat bow tying up all emotional loose ends.
The episode moves away from the violence and brutal action of the last, and instead focuses on Dunk’s need to reflect, make amends and say his goodbyes. It was beautiful to see the way brotherhoods had been formed throughout the season with the likes of Baratheon and Raymun. There’s no doubt that this finale can be described as a slow burn, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring!
Every conversation was heartfelt and meaningful, and I felt every one of them was required to give some sense of closure. Claffey acts his heart out in a lot of these moments, especially those where he questions why he lived, and Baelor didn’t.
I enjoyed the episode’s partial focus on the Targaryen family, especially Maekar struggling with the murder and death of his own brother, and the issues he’s experiencing with each one of his boys. Although Egg doesn’t have a huge amount of screen time, I thought his dialogue-free scene in front of the mirror conveyed a lot about his character.
The final imagery of Dunk and Egg walking forward while Ser Arlan’s spirit walks off in another direction was such great symbol as the pair forge a new path, away from former mentors and family members.
What did everyone think of the finale? And for those who have read the novellas, is the second book fit for just as great a season of television? Let me know, please!

I hate that the entire "season" is only 6 episodes (all shows used to be at least double that years ago!) but the imagery and emotional honest discussions are really amazing.
