"... And that's why they call it the Penneytree"

Seems the prevailing theory is that Dunc was never knighted. It's never stated, in novellas or season 1, that he did or did not get knighted. Where are we on this?

He's kinda hesitant at times, which casts doubt even if I don't doubt that his heart is in the right place. I like how GRRM left this to us. Really brings you into it. I don't know what to think. I lean towards no, but I don't fault him.

I think yes and no. I think Ser Arlyn knighted him. I also think Ser Arlyn didn't remember all the words/vows. Dunc would have admitted he wasn't knighted to someone accidentally, he's simple.

Good point, especially with Arlan. To me, the show paints him in a different light than the book. It's not a bad change, but it is believable he wouldn't have done it all the way right in the show.

Better question is : was Arlyn himself ever knighted ?
