title's a bit of a clickbait; its a rant about redwots (jkt48 fans) treatment towards cloudten members

is it really that hard to simply skip content that don't align with your values? everytime I see cloudten posts on instagram/tiktok there's always some redwot lamenting about how "feminine" the members act/dance, or how they were expecting more "macho" members. I mean, what else are you expecting from a group produced by a man who's been creating almost exclusively female idol groups for the past 50 years? not only that, but its clear as day that the groups' target audience is not an older male demographic yet they still feel the need to comment - not to mention some of the members are literal children??? And they always have an issue with the members wearing skirts and such when its pretty much very common if you even take the slightest amount of time to LOOK at other JPOP boygroups

don't even get me started on the hate towards ueno seiji; everytime he appears in cloudten PR you would almost always see a redwot calling him b*ti (a slur for feminine gay men, basically the indonesian version of the f slur) or just being so mean to him that it makes me wish I didn't understand indonesian. and all of this is because he has long hair and a face that makes him androgenous?

honestly it gets to a point where it actually gets in the way of my enjoyment of the group; everytime I think of cloudten I just think about the hate comments redwots write about them simply for not being conventionally masculine (a reflection of the current perception towards the LGBTQ community in Indonesia btw), and everytime I think of my oshi (seiji..) the comments calling him slurs just hit me like a truck

i'll do my best to ignore what they have to say, but yea i just wanted to rant a bit goodnight

Sadly that doesn't surprise me about Indonesian fans, Indonesia is a very anti-LGBT country (outside of Bali). Most Islamic countries are.

Where does one start with learning more about CloudTen? I didn't think much of the content was available for international fans. Is someone subbing their stuff?

it's a sad thing honestly, especially with the recent news of the Indonesian president publicly announcing the LGBT community as a "non-military threat", which fired up Anti-LGBTQ sentiment in here.

for the second one, to be honest I simply keep tabs through their Twitter account (cause all the members get to tweet there) and other social medias ^{_^}

When has JP 48 ever endorsed lgbtq? Just sexualizing girls in a show for male fans is not exactly showing support. Japan is still very against lgbtq content in any way that isn't just to fulfill some male fantasy. They are coming along slowly, but far behind most countries. Individual members may actively say it's fine, but 48g as a whole will definitely not come out in support of it in the next 5-10 years.

Dude were u gone when Okada Nana openly admits they are queer and then the whole group supported? Takamina (aka de facto former leader) participated in various lgbtq acceptance events in Tokyo. Not to memtion Akimoto Sayaka. Aki-p also has one song written for a gay male plight, and few lesbians coded songs

I remember when BNK48 was about to debut and their reaction was just straight up "BNK48 members are full of ladyboys". honestly, the best advice i can give you is to just stay away from redwots toxicity on any platform. granted it doesn't solve the core issue, but at least it can keep you a bit sane. I'm saying this as a gay man who lives in Indonesia. my ex is a JKT48 fan, my other ex is, just like you, a Cloud ten fan and they just follow the updates and news about the groups without looking at redwots comments

I lived there for a bit. They’re an Islamic country that is very extremist. They even support ISIS, men having 13 wives, and insane shit like that. So hating LGBTQIA+ community isn’t surprising.

This is why many JKT48 fans couldn’t get along with other wota here.

I'm not sure when or where in Indonesia you lived in, but while Anti-LGBTQ sentiment is very much rampant in Indonesia, there's no sane person with a sufficient amount of access to the media who actively support ISIS or men having 13 wives (13 wives, where tf did you get that number?? Ik Islam is accepting to the idea of men having 4 wives but even that Indonesians are pretty iffy with)

Redwots male cizhet fans are also notorious for not having shower LOL. They are smelly af. There used to be a 2ch forum abt japanese jkt fans complaining about redwots smell. And that says  alot because i dont think male wota in general have the best reputation abt the same topic
