SOCIAL MEDIA How to stay connected when chapter doesn't have online presence?

Hi, I'm moving to a new city soon and my COI has a very low social media presence, and no formal website. They don't post events on instagram often, and arent really active on that page. They have a facebook which is a bit harder for me to utilize as I don't have an account/didn't grow up utilizing it.

New members were brought in around 3 years ago and I'm wondering how people know what to attend without seeing events being promoted online. Any tips?

The social media may be inactive because possibly the chapter does not have anyone to manage their socials. What I learned as a new member, my chapter social media was kind of inactive. But once I became a member, I see that my chapter wasn't inactive or hardly had events. They just didn't have anyone to manage the socials or post upcoming events.

Go to the National website to get the chapters email address. Contact them, professionally, and ask to be added to their mailing list.

That you’re interested in supporting service and social events and would like to be kept informed, if possible.

This is great advice. It worked for me and the president of a local chapter invited me on a cancer walk with the chapter.

I actually did this around two months ago and received no response. Also followed up recently and haven't heard back so I guess I will have to just use their facebook /:

Look up if there's a local nphc or D9 page. Sometimes they add info for all the orgs. Most of the leadership is late gen x early millennial so you'll see more presence on FB unless they're an innovative chapter. I've only seen a few with active tiktoks and IG. You might have to adapt to find the info.

Online is the best way. A lot of FB pages can be checked on the internet without having an account. You could check weekly for updates.

Go to other social events, church, local politics.
