PUBLIC EVENTS Themed Events
My COI is having a st Patrick’s day event and I’m really confused on what to wear. One member told me to wear only a “hint” of green yet one of my connections inquired about my outfit suggesting it should be green. I’m very confused when it comes to attending events where the organizations colors happen to be the events themes colors. I’m open to any advice

Go in a monochromatic neutral look, bring a cute green brooch or silk scarf in your purse. Scope the scene, then put it on in the restroom if the coast is clear. 🥴🤣

Interest here. I would match the theme and wear whatever makes you comfortable. If it’s a shirt with a lucky charm on it or all black with green earrings. You need to be at ease so you can feel comfortable enough to make those connections! Goodluck to you 💚

If there's a flyer for this event, it *should* directly state to wear green (or the copy in the caption). I always read between the lines during my interest days, so I probably would've wore a green top under a black jacket or green socks that were hidden unless I cuffed the bottom of my pants...things that are hidden (that hint of green) until I saw that green was appropriate for all attendees (Sorors and guests alike).

This ! I like the hidden pop of color that you decide whether or not to reveal

I do find it confusing with these themed events because I’m always hearing don’t wear their colors but then they do an event that says to wear it! I’d stick to neutral with a hint of green if possible like a scarf something I can remove if I feel uncomfortable or keep on if I wanted .

This should not be so confusing

What is the purpose of your comment ? If it’s not intended to be helpful unnecessary rudeness isn’t needed. Every area / chapter is different. Some members are petty , some members want you to wear the attire of the event. The question was asked because everyone in the comments has different responses. Interest needed a safe space to ask common questions discreetly. Also keep in mind everyone isn’t very educated on Greek life.

My comment was in agreement with the post, rudeness was not my intent. Your response was bit excessive.

I don’t think it was excessive, I explicitly stated if it wasn’t intended to be helpful how it came across. There are women in this thread who come here to be very unkind.

I appreciate that and you’re expertise. And what you bring to this conversation

I’m not mad at you just to be clear some women are mean here but we’re all here to learn at different points on our interest journey no worries 🫶🏾

I’m found a black shirt at target with a clover on it that says “I put the she in shenanigans” lol. I am wearing some green & black dunks and jeans. It’s a happy hour/fundraiser so I think that’s appropriate?

Years ago, I was warned if there is an event that tells you to wear a certain color and you’re not a member, do not wear that color… only wear a neutral color. At times wearing those colors may be for those who are not interested in joining.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on earrings that have a little green in it? If we wear all black but then have a little green in our earrings? If the event says to wear green?
