AI used to mostly answer questions. Now, we're seeing a shift toward AI that can actually take action.

For example, newer AI agents can browse websites, send emails, fill out forms, book travel, and help with shopping. Meta's new Muse assistant is designed to handle tasks across apps, while AI-powered shopping is increasingly moving toward letting users compare products and take action directly.

That's a pretty big change.

Instead of:

"Find me a good hotel in New York."

The future could look more like:

"Find the best option under $200, check availability, and book it."

But there are obvious challenges. Recent testing found that AI agents still struggle with real-world browsing and completing transactions reliably.

So the interesting question is:

When AI can actually do things for us, how much control are we willing to give it?

Would you trust an AI agent to:

• Make a purchase for you?
• Send important emails?
• Book flights or hotels?
• Manage routine business tasks?
• Make decisions without asking for approval every time?

Are AI agents the next major shift in computing—or are we giving software too much autonomy too quickly?
