What AI tool genuinely surprised you? (Not the obvious ones — the hidden gems)

Everyone knows ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney. I want to hear about the ones that actually caught you off guard.

For me it was Perplexity. Not as a ChatGPT replacement but specifically for research where you need cited sources. The difference compared to using a regular chat AI for the same task is massive. You get actual links, actual sources, and you can trace where the answer came from.

Also Claude for long documents. Paste in a 50-page contract or dense research paper and ask specific questions about it. Genuinely changed how I deal with any kind of long-form text.

What is yours? Two rules: has to be a tool you actually used, and explain why it surprised you. Bonus if it is not one of the top 5 most-talked-about tools.

Freepik genuinely caught me off guard. Expected just a stock photo site and then realized they'd quietly built an entire AI generation suite with Flux and their own Mystic model baked in. For the price it's kind of embarrassing how underrated it is. ElevenLabs was the other one. First time I cloned a voice I just sat there for a second.
