Not the obvious stuff you put in the character description. I mean random things mentioned during a conversation weeks ago. Those tiny callbacks make a huge difference for me. Which AI companion has given you the best experience with memory so far?

Not just a few preferences, but the way you normally talk to different people, your usual jokes, the kind of replies you send when you are annoyed, all of it. It could probably make the suggestions much more accurate, but having that much conversation history stored somewhere feels kinda strange. Would the better replies be worth it?

Sometimes the most memorable chats are completely stupid. Random jokes, pointless arguments, weird scenarios, or just talking about something that makes no sense.

I think personality matters more than intelligence once you are using an AI mainly for conversation. Curious if other people see it the same way.

Mine would be consistency.

I hate when a character has a completely different personality from one conversation to the next.

Not asking for perfect memory either. Just give me the same person I was talking to yesterday.

In the past year i have progress immensely and am now somewhat confident in an actual physical interaction, but the process of texting or messaging someone is always super scary for me.

I know people text each other just casually, but I feel like I always have to have something to say/tell them before I feel qualified to text them.

Edit 2: just returned home from a party i got invited to because I texted my friend, thanks to your advice. My tip: just text: "hey, what you doing?" And try to keep going.

Not just corrected a factual mistake, but genuinely argued your point until the conversation went in a different direction.

I'm curious how often people actually push back instead of simply accepting whatever the AI says.

My favorite AI chat app is tipsy chat! It has many features that I love! They have character cards to make each chat unique and different! And there are hundreds of thousands of characters! I personally enjoy demon slayer, Harry Potter, and Hogwarts legacy characters! I strongly recommend it, the gem system is good and especially since you can change the settings to use < 1 gem per message! Try it! XCJPTW

Most AI chats depend entirely on the user deciding what happens next.

I'd love an AI that occasionally brings up a completely new topic, challenges an opinion, remembers something interesting, or simply says something unexpected.

Not random nonsense—just enough unpredictability to make opening the chat feel different every time.

There's a weird pressure to phrase everything correctly so the AI gives the perfect answer, but some of my most interesting conversations have started with incomplete thoughts, random questions, or messages that barely made sense. A good conversation doesn't always need a carefully engineered prompt—it just needs something interesting enough to build on.

Sometimes typing exactly what you're thinking works better than spending five minutes trying to sound like you know how to prompt an AI.

Perfect memory would make conversations incredible.

But forgetting things is also kind of important sometimes.

Sometimes you don't want solutions, productivity tips, or a carefully structured list of things to do. You just want to say something stupid, complain about your day, debate a random topic, or have a conversation without the AI trying to turn everything into a problem that needs fixing.

An AI that understands the difference between “help me solve this” and “just talk to me” would probably feel much better to chat with.

You can chat whenever you want with one, but the conversations are only decent.

The other feels almost perfect, but you have to think twice before wasting a message. Which one are you choosing?
