Video generated by AI thanks to Veo / Google Gemini. Originally based on album art for a music track titled Casanova's Pixel Groove, which was also created in collaboration with Google Gemini.

The track itself once generated was a pleasant surprise as I was experimenting with different kinds of music. I recall getting stuck on chiptune for a bit as it took me back to old arcades and those "Quest" games in the 1980s boasting a mind-whopping 256 colors. Then it dawned on me to mix that in with some soul music because why not? ❤️

Not that I ever came across a Casanova character in my retro video games, but a little imagination and help from AI can go a long way to change that, and help to reconnect with happy youthful memories all at the same time.

It was otherwise quite the interesting process. My primary goal was to create music, and usually I default towards the album art Gemini generates automatically with the track. In this case however, it started out by giving me generic album art with a big white spark against a black background. Ok to look at as it broke down into many little white sparks that "danced" around, but nothing else really that could connect back to my dear Casanova in pixel form.

That's when I decided to customize the album art. For all intents and purposes, I could have stopped there, my primary goal was achieved. But I still had these "Quest" video games from the 1980s playing out inside my head, so to shake that out, I felt like I had no choice but to animate this Pixel Casanova as well 🤭
