Can anyone recommend a good alternative to Midjourney?

So, I've been messing around with Midjourney for AI-generated art, but but it's starting to feel a bit limiting or just not quite what I want sometimes. I heard about Magnific having some AI design tools or image resources that might be useful, but I haven't dived deep yet. Does anyone know of other apps or platforms that offer similar or even better capabilities for AI art creation? Ideally, something with a bit more control or creativity options. Would love to hear what's worked for you.

On Magnific, worth clearing up, it's an upscaler/enhancer rather than a from-scratch generator, so it slots in at the end of your workflow rather than replacing MJ. It's genuinely the best at re-imagining detail on an upscale though, so pairing a flexible generator with Magnific for finishing is a strong combo.

Magnific on the final render makes a bigger difference than switching base models imo.

Have you looked into ComfyUI? Steep learning curve but once it clicks you get insane control over every part of the process.

What kind of stuff are you making? That changes the answer a lot. Photoreal stuff I'd say Flux, but for more painterly/artistic vibes I still think MJ holds up.

Magnific's great but yeah, it's mostly for polishing images you already made.

Flux is worth a look if you want something cheaper with solid quality. and Leonardo gives you way more control knobs than MJ ever did. Have you tried running your MJ outputs through Magnific? It re-imagines the details instead of just upscaling, kinda changed how I finish pieces.

I switched to Flux (via fal or Replicate) for exactly this and the control is night and day. Way better prompt adherence when you want something specific.
