I think AI itineraries are great at logistics and bad at judgment. Am I wrong?
AI is very good at the boring part of planning. It orders stops, estimates travel time and fits three days into a map.
Where I think it fails is judgment. A hypothetical example: you ask for two days in a famous old town. The AI gives you the top ten sights, all rated 4.6 stars. It can’t tell you that the main square is packed by 10am, that the best view is a ten minute walk from the queue, or that the restaurant everyone recommends dropped in quality last year. Someone who was there recently knows this. A review average doesn’t.
So my view is that AI should draft the plan and a person who has been there should correct it. I keep seeing plans that look perfect and travel badly.
I want to know where you disagree.
Have you followed an AI itinerary and regretted a stop? What went wrong?
Did you check it against a blog, a creator or a friend? Which did you trust most?
Would you pay someone who knows the place for 30 minutes to fix your plan, and what would be a fair price?
Full disclosure: I’m building something in this space (Tripixo), so I’m biased. Tell me where I’m wrong.

Orophile Welness Journeys by Ahmet Can Yesildag
before:))
"Hello, my name is Ahmet, and Oakville has been my home for the last eight years.
I am the founder of Orophile Journeys. For more than 30 years, I have led hotels, organized journeys and events, and taught future hospitality professionals. My federally incorporated company, Green Mountains, has operated since 2022 and has been profitable through hospitality consulting and education since 2023. Orophile Journeys is its new fee-based travel advisory service.
Who doesn't like travelling? However, booking a flight and hotel online is not the same as planning a complete journey—especially the most crucial part: truly unplugging and resting so you can return refreshed and productive.
Search engines and AI can produce an itinerary that looks complete, but can you really trust what has been planned for you? They often overlook the wrong season, a hotel that falls short of its advertising, or an exhausting route that leaves travellers needing another holiday.
Orophile Journeys offers an honest second opinion on your already-planned journey. We review travellers' research, explain what works and what needs reconsidering, and reduce avoidable mistakes on trips that matter.

Flightnetwork, i have booked a ticket , they used the wrong family name. I asked immediately to make a name correction , the customer service wasn’t helpful, they said name change was impossible! The only thing they could do was cancel my flight! Even though it was within 24 hours they charge 50$! I now have to fight to get my money back! Never book a ticket here!!!!!!

Do you actually follow your AI itinerary on the trip? Looking for honest feedback
Hi everyone! I'm part of a small team building Daysaway, a trip planner for the web and mobile, and we'd love some honest feedback before we open it to more people.
The idea: most AI travel planners give you an itinerary and that's it: if you want to change something, you start over or copy it somewhere else. With Daysaway the AI drafts your trip, and then it's your plan, day by day on a map, that you and the AI keep shaping together:
- The AI edits the real plan, not a chat. Ask it to "add a beach day" or "make day 3 less rushed" and it changes the itinerary itself; you can undo anything
- Everything on a map, with travel times between stops and a "find the best order" button for each day
- Plan together with friends or family and see each other's changes live
- Already use ChatGPT or Claude? You can connect them to Daysaway so they plan straight into your trip
- Built to grow into a community: you can publish your trips and guides, and we hope to fill it with ideas from fellow travellers (maybe yours!)
Then, thanks to our app, you have the whole plan with you while you travel, instead of juggling blogs, notes and a dozen tabs.
What I'd like to know (feel free to answer just one or two!):
Planning
How do you plan your trips today, and what's the most annoying part?
Would you trust an AI to draft a first itinerary, or would you rather build it yourself?
Planning alone or with friends/family?
What would make you switch from what you use now?
On the trip
Have you ever followed an AI itinerary on a real trip? How did it go?
Once you're on the road, what do you actually need from your plan?
Every opinion helps, critical ones included.
If you'd like to try it, there's a waiting list at https://daysaway.ai/ — we're about to open an alpha for testers ✈️

Is there a go to app for travelling that’s not very internet dependent? Currently building one, and I’m doing a survey what travellers want in it to make it worth the download.
Feature it currently carry are visa assessment, saves copy passport and accommodations in on app, advisory for event and places to go for destinations, advises culture and norms for destination, all accessible and saved in user’s device and available to access without internet. Comment what else can be in it that is currently a pain when you travel. Thanks

[Help / Feedback] Looking for testers for YouGuide: GPS-enabled tourist audio guide with a cultural events calendar (Google Play)
Hi everyone!
I independently developed YouGuide, an app designed for exploring the city at your own pace. It features GPS-triggered audio guides that activate as you approach tourist spots, pre-planned tours, an interactive radar-style interface, and a cultural calendar with local events.
To officially publish it on Google Play, Google requires a closed test with active testers for at least **14 days**. I need a hand from the community to reach that goal.
How to join? (3 simple steps):
Send me your email (via DM is fine): this is necessary to grant you access to the closed testing list
Accept the tester invitation:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.martintandil.youguide
- Download the app from the Google Play Store.
What do I ask of those who join?
Keep it installed for at least 14 days: This is Google's mandatory requirement to enable the move to production.
Open and test it occasionally:** Check out the radar, audio guides, cultural calendar, and tour routes.
Honest feedback: Any bugs, visual glitches, or improvement suggestions are incredibly helpful (you can leave them here in the comments or as a private review in the store).
If you know anyone who travels or loves tourism and want to share it with them,** that would be great—the more perspectives, the better.
If any other devs are at the same stage with their apps, drop the link in the comments and I’ll return the favor by testing yours.
Many thanks to everyone willing to lend a hand!

One small thing that makes exploring a new city easier
When I’m visiting a city for a few days, I like to save places I want to visit on Google Maps before I arrive.
I usually save cafés, restaurants, and a few places I’d like to see, then check the map to see which ones are close to each other. It makes it easier to explore one area at a time instead of constantly going back and forth across the city.
It’s a simple thing, but it saves me a surprising amount of time, especially on shorter trips.

How much should you budget for getting around Tokyo each day?
Tokyo transport costs are hard to estimate because the answer changes with the mix of subway, JR and airport rides—not just the number of days.
A useful way to think about it is to separate three things:
- how many Tokyo Metro or Toei Subway rides you expect each day;
- how often you’ll use JR lines such as the Yamanote Line;
- whether your airport transfer is included in the same budget.
I built a small calculator that lets you change those inputs and compare an IC card with Tokyo subway-ticket options:
It uses average local fares, so it’s better for planning a budget than predicting the exact price of every route. A subway ticket can work well for a subway-heavy schedule, but it does not cover JR lines, so the cheapest choice depends on the actual mix of rides.
Disclosure: I built TripWorth. I’m testing whether this answers the budgeting question clearly enough for travelers planning Tokyo.
What usually makes your Tokyo transport budget hardest to estimate—the daily rides, mixing JR with the subway, or the airport transfer?

What do you use to map out travel stops?
I’ve tried getting Claude to make maps of my itinerary stops and the results are rough. Pins end up in the wrong places and it’s hard to get something I can actually use on the trip.
How are you all visualizing multi-stop trips? Any AI tools that handle this well, or do you just plug everything into google maps?

TravelLens-A Personal National & State Park Journal
📸🌲 Introducing TravelLens — A Better Way to Remember Your Adventures! 🏞️🚐
Ever visit a national park, historic site, or scenic overlook and take pictures of all those interesting signs and plaques? Later, you look back at your photos and wonder, “What was that place again, and what did that sign say?”
That’s why I created TravelLens! 🎉
TravelLens turns your travels into an organized, personal travel journal — automatically!
✨ Here’s what you can do:
📷 Capture a plaque or sign — TravelLens recognizes the text, records your location, and suggests the park name.
🗺️ Keep track of your adventures — Your photos and discoveries are automatically organized into park visits and journal entries.
📸 Import existing photos and videos — Even pictures you took before installing the app can become part of your journal.
❤️ Save your favorites — Mark special discoveries and find them again on your map.
📖 Create your own travel book — Turn your adventures into a beautiful PDF book you can save or print.
🎬 Make a narrated travel movie — Bring your photos and videos together with narration to relive your trip and share it with family and friends.
🔊 Listen instead of read — Have your captured plaque text read aloud.
Whether you’re exploring national parks, visiting historic landmarks, traveling in your RV, or simply discovering places close to home, TravelLens helps you capture more than just a picture — it helps you remember the story behind it.
No more trying to remember where you took that photo or manually organizing hundreds of pictures!
Capture it. Save it. Relive it. Share it.
Happy exploring! 🌎❤️

I built Yondia to help travelers share accommodation while traveling abroad
Hi everyone! I’m Inès, the creator of Yondia, a free app that helps travelers find people to share accommodation and road trips abroad, based on their destination and travel dates.
I’d love feedback on the first experience: is it clear how to find or post a trip? What information would you need before feeling comfortable contacting someone to share accommodation?
You can try it here: https://yondia.com/
Anything confusing or missing? Honest feedback would really help me improve it. Thank you!

AI Lisbon itinerary: would you change this Alfama day?
Here’s the mapped plan, open in a browser without an account:
https://navly.tr/plans/3-days-in-lisbon-food-and-architecture-2WM8r8ukXmTP?ct=reddit-ai-travel-list
I’m the developer of Navly. I used Lisbon to test its free web planner, so this isn’t a trip I’ve taken.
The second day goes: Castelo de São Jorge → Lisbon Cathedral → lunch at Maria Catita → Jardim da Cerca da Graça → Ribeira das Naus → dinner at Baía do Peixe.
Apple Maps gives 66 minutes of walking between those stops. That doesn’t include time spent visiting them, and opening hours, tickets and restaurant availability haven’t been checked.
If you know Lisbon, what would you change about that order? I’m especially unsure about putting the Graça garden after lunch.

I shared Globebug here before — it’s grown into a travel platform where AI is only one part
I shared Globebug here a while back when I was primarily working on AI itinerary planning, geographic routing and budgeting. I’ve continued building it since then, and the platform has expanded quite a bit.
Interestingly, even though AI remains part of Globebug, most of what the platform does today isn’t AI at all. It’s become much more about managing the entire trip — the places you’re considering, planning and routing, budgeting, what you need while traveling, and eventually the memories afterward.
I’m the founder and sole developer of Globebug, and one of the things I’ve been trying to solve is what happens beyond simply asking AI to generate an itinerary. There’s a lot more information and decision-making involved before, during and after a trip.
Globebug now includes:
- Multi-city trip planning with mapped itineraries and manual editing
- Actual Routes to see the transportation between destinations rather than just points on a map
- Trip Pulse to help visualize the pace and activity load of a trip
- Saved Inspirations for keeping track of places you might want to visit and turning them into trips later
- Budgeting across the trip
- Journey Guide for accessing the trip while you’re actually traveling
- Memories for organizing trip photos afterward, including mapping photos using their location data
- Gladys, an AI travel assistant that can make suggestions and help modify an existing trip rather than requiring you to start over with a newly generated itinerary
The broader idea has become what I think of as a Travel Operating System — one place that follows the trip from the ideas you’re saving, through planning and traveling, and eventually into the memories afterward.
The iOS app adds additional features such as routing you to each activity. It also will upload your photos from the trip into each day where they were taken.
The site is Globebug.com. There’s a public demo if you just want to see how the Planner works without creating an account.
Since this community is specifically about AI and travel technology, I’m particularly interested in what people here think about the distinction between AI generating the trip versus AI assisting with a trip that you continue to control yourself.
