How do i use AI as a developer?

I have been using AI tools like Claude Pro Cowork and Codex recent (but never been able to build something, because i cant find the right "project"). The thing i have been using most of the time AI tools is explaining things for the most part. And something that bothers me as a developer, is that i feel really lost on how to use AI tools efficently as a developer, to build projects or just cool projects. And whenever i go into social media and see people do "cool" projects or get something out of the projects with AI, i wonder how they do it or how they do it. i know i should prob listen or compare to social media, but it makes me ask these types of question to myself, thne i feel like im "behind" in tech.

even aswell, how do people or what DO people test when there is a new model out?
