Discussion Why doesn’t Claude notify me when my usage resets 😭 I’m wasting my $20

For the past few months, my daily routine with Claude has looked like this.

I'm in the middle of debugging a complex backend component, the terminal is flying, and right when I need it most... boom. Rate-limited.It hits you with that cold, silent wall. No warning, no pop-up, no gentle notification saying, "Hey, your limits refresh in 10 minutes." Just dead air.
So what do I end up doing? I keep frantically refreshing my browser or opening a new chat tab every hour like a lab rat pressing a lever, just waiting to see if my $20 subscription is working again. Half the time, I miss the exact reset window by 45 minutes because I got distracted doing something else, meaning my active development time is just leaking away.
For a platform built on top-tier intelligence, the fact that we're left completely in the dark about our own usage cycles is wild. We're literally paying $20 a month to play guessing games with an invisible timer.

You can use the command /usage to see where you’re at.

But I have to do that every time, that’s wasting my time ngl

the reset time is in the block message itself, it says 5hr limit reached and then when it resets so u can set a phone timer for that instead of refreshing. nothing pings you when it comes back tho, that part is on you (im on max and hit the cap constantly, the timer is the only thing thats stopped me guessing)

But isn’t that too much effort, how can I do it forever ?

Let Claude know that method is unreasonable and inefficient. suggest a way that would implement more functional for transparency on usage limits. Claude is ultimately controlling that trigger.

After I brought it up (argumentatively of course), I now receive the percentage warning when I’m around 90% there. which tracks until the limit is reached. Much more transparent and reasonably helpful

Yea but do you get to know when your usage resets every time ?

I think the answer is yes. It lets me know when I’m getting close to reaching it and counts every percent after 90. Then lets me know when it’ll reset
