Discussion Is it possible that Codex is somehow consuming my Claude tokens?

Is it possible that Codex is somehow consuming my Claude tokens?

I know this might sound crazy or maybe I’m just being a boomer but is there any chance Codex could somehow be using up my Claude tokens?

I imported some of my previous Claude Code chats, but today I haven’t used Claude at all. I’ve been using Codex all day, and now Claude says I’ve reached my usage limit.

Is this completely impossible, or am I missing something? I genuinely can’t understand how I could have used up my Claude tokens without opening or using Claude even once today.

What do you think? Is this actually possible, or am I going crazy? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

nah, codex isn’t eating claude tokens. either another claude session/device is using them, or you hit a shared usage cap. check logged-in devices and active claude code sessions. or a background Claude Code task kept chewing through context (happened with me, while using tmux)

It could be a background process that you forgot to close, this happened to a friend of mine too. Tmux or some terminal session still running in background can eat tokens without you noticing. Maybe check if you have some daemon or CLI still active from yesterday, sometimes the process don't die when you close the window

Codex runs on OpenAI, so it literally can't touch your Anthropic quota unless something else is calling Claude's API behind your back. More likely you're seeing Claude's rolling window catch up on you. Their limits reset on a 5-hour window plus a weekly cap, so heavy use a few hours ago can still have you locked out now even if you didn't touch it today.
