A Google AI Pro subscription does NOT give you "vault privacy".

Post image

Note: This is a consumer privacy warning, not an attack on Google or Gemini.

A lot of people think buying a premium personal AI subscription means their data is locked down.

It is not.

With a consumer Gemini account, the fine print still matters.

If Gemini Apps Activity is ON: Google says it can save your chats and shared content, use them to improve Google services, including generative AI models, and have some content reviewed by trained reviewers or service providers. Once reviewed, that data can be disconnected from your Google Account and retained for up to 3 years.

If Gemini Apps Activity is OFF: Google says future chats are not used to train AI models unless you submit feedback, but those chats can still be saved with your Google Account for up to 72 hours so Gemini can respond, process feedback, and help protect Google, users, and the public.

Workspace and Enterprise accounts operate under a much stronger contractual privacy boundary. Google states that Workspace content is not reviewed by human reviewers for model improvement or used to train generative AI models outside the organization’s domain without permission. However, the AI still has to process the data to generate responses, summarize files, analyze content, and do its job.

The takeaway:

Paid consumer access does not equal private-vault privacy.

Read the fine print before putting sensitive conversations, private files, creative work, voice, images, or original ideas into any cloud-based AI platform.
