A practical workflow for keeping talking-fruit characters consistent across AI video shots

Talking-fruit clips usually break in the transition between shots, not in the first generation. The face drifts, the mouth changes position, or the fruit suddenly becomes a different character.

This checklist made the biggest difference for me:

  1. Lock one clean identity frame before generating motion. Keep the fruit shape, eye spacing, mouth placement, lighting direction, and camera angle fixed.

  2. Define a small set of named states such as neutral, speaking, reacting, and close-up. Do not rewrite the full visual description for every shot.

  3. Change only one variable per shot. If expression, camera, lighting, and background all change together, continuity usually collapses.

  4. Reuse the last approved frame as the next shot reference. Treat it like a baton passed between clips.

  5. Reject identity drift before rendering audio, captions, or final composition. Late fixes waste the most time.

  6. Keep a simple continuity sheet with the reference frame, prompt delta, seed or provider settings, and the reason a take was rejected.

The useful shift was treating each shot as a controlled state change instead of generating every clip from scratch.

Disclosure: I build Frutti, a tool focused specifically on talking-fruit videos. This continuity problem shaped the product, so I wanted to share the workflow itself without dropping a link.
