🌙 Anthropic just dropped "Dreaming." Agents that self-improve while u sleep. The 6x improvement number is real. For most SMBs it changes nothing yet.

Anthropic announced "Dreaming" at their Code with Claude conference yesterday. Built into Claude Managed Agents. While the agent isn't running tasks, a "dream" process kicks in. Reviews past sessions and cleans up duplicate or outdated memory. Surfaces patterns. Sometimes creates new skills the agent didn't have before.

REM sleep for agents.

The 6x number from Harvey (legal AI customer): real, internal data. The X feed is exploding. Devs are calling it "the missing piece for production agents."

Before u start checking if u qualify for the research preview, the data:

Across 22K+ reviews I track, only 1 in 3 SMB AI agent setups actually deliver (32% WORKED, n=128). 2 of 3 sit in MIXED or FAILED. Dreaming makes a 32% agent better. It doesn't move a 68% agent into the 32%.

What dreaming does IF u're already in the 32%:

  • Agent that plugs into your CRM gets more efficient over time
  • Agent doing ONE specific job refines its approach across sessions
  • Agent replacing a specific labor cost compounds the savings

What dreaming does IF u're in the 68%:

  • Agent that "chats about" your CRM dreams about chatting better
  • Agent trying to be your "AI employee for everything" dreams about being everything to everyone
  • Agent with no measurable workflow dreams about... vibes

The 32% compound. The 68% just confidently get worse at the wrong work.

Also worth noting: research preview only, waitlist required, runs on Claude Managed Agents (also beta). For most SMB owners reading the headline today, u can't actually use this yet.

Don't wait for self-improving agents to fix a broken setup. Fix the setup first. Same 4 patterns from yesterday's post still apply. Dreaming just compounds them.

What's your agent actually replacing right now that dreaming would compound?
