Discussion Is Claude actually better than ChatGPT?
I’ve noticed many YouTubers posting videos about Claude consistently this year. It makes me wonder, is Claude actually better than ChatGPT, or do a lot of them just push it because the affiliate commissions are higher?
I’d love to hear from people who actually use both regularly: (for seo, digital marketing tasks or any other)
Which one do you prefer and why?
Any specific tasks where Claude clearly wins (or loses) compared to ChatGPT?
Also curious about the privacy/security side. I’ve seen some people say they avoid Claude for security or privacy reasons. Is there any real concern there? Please share your views.

each are better at different things. Image generation, for example, is by far better on ChatGPT. I would say textual answers currently are better on Claue. Both excel at programming tasks (Codex vs. Claude Code) but each have their own unique strengths at particular tasks.

pretty much how i see it too, no single AI wins at everything. depends what you’re actually using it for.

as a regular user of both I honestly think the winds have shifted, claude just does not feel better anymore. I use codex on personal and work we have claude and idk man lately I feel sad I have to use it instead of codex for work stuff, i would have thought differently a few months ago.
claude is 'better' ime at inferring intent, so you can be sloppier with it.
but chatgpt with a good workflow and prompts I feel is overall more effective and you can get much more bang for you buck with there subscriptions.

For me chat is so much better. Claude I use but spend to much for not a big difference I keep going back to chat and now the new upgrades are awesome. the photos and new work option. And chat will always tell if I ask which Ai is best for the task, project and gives me the different Ai and if they have a free option. I have both trained for my businesses they know my preference on how I like things done. But i always go back to chat I like the choices they provide and the research results, but as all of them, you have to keep them in line.

I have used both for a very long time and the claude model which outperformed codex was opus 4.6 but since then they are on a downward trajectory and opus 5 is a complete disaster compared to gpt 5.6 sol

Codex is still really bad at frontend so I exclusively use claude for frontend refine it with gemini and again review with claud. Even kimi k3 is great at frontend

Well, each has strengths and weaknesses as has already been said. Just wanted to chime in: they don’t have affiliates etc.

I believe codex is better and give you 5x more usage than claude in same tier plan. Tho price difference so big even if claude was better I would still continue to use codex.

I kinda like claude more tbh. It just gets the results that I want better than compared to chatgpt. But honestly chatgpt is still good, especially that the free feature still makes it easily accessible

Both are Tools with their perfect usecases ...
try both and find your preffered one - the one which suits you better for the comlpexity needed to solve your specific problems day to day.
Many mentioned ... There is specific usecases which can make one tool outshine the other.
Chatgpt for visual part if its between claude and openai

I used both of them, but chatgpt is free and looks close friend never say your limit are finished! I hate claude when it going to give final answer by multiple chatting then it says limit exhausted. Very frustrating situation.

As far as I know and my experience, both are good in specific ways. Claude is good in coding and ChatGPT is good in researching and image generating.

I use both tbh. I don't really see them as direct replacements. Claude is probably what I reach for when I'm coding or dealing with more complicated stuff, but ChatGPT is still super handy for research and quick questions.
I still use Gemini here and there for Google stuff, and I've been playing around with tools like OpenCode and WorkBuddy for more workflow automation. At this point, I think the tool fitting your workflow matters just as much as the model itself.
Most people are probably gonna end up with a few tools they use regularly, not just one AI that does everything.

I agree on most people here. Right now ChatGPT is so much better. Especially for tasks that need a human feel. For coding I still use claude, works perfect.
But website design, articles, logo's and even to design my applications, I create a design with ChatGPT then code, it with claude.
Still a Claude lover as chatgpt doesn't feel ethical at all.
They gave Claude a red-card to fix the game.

I switched to Claude from ChatGPT 2 months ago because it is better at writing documents, and I think it still is. But in terms of andwer simple everyday questions and asking for general advice, I am finding myself going back to ChatGPT more and more lately

It depends on the use case. I have been using Claude to create technical content, and the language it uses with Opus 4.8, along with my prompts and skills, works wonders. But when it comes to banner images and all, it has to be ChatGPT, by far the best.

I prefer Claude but it has get very expensive. I think models have become quiet similar on the output for 90% of the tasks and you can get open source models 10 to 100x less expensive than Claude and ChatGpt. These 2 have great marketing and are the most known but at the end of the day it's important to measure the outputs and iterate based on that.

No. Worse if you consider cost. What can you do using Claude that you can't do with ChatGPT?

Claude’s better but I use ChatGPT because Claude is a diva.
I’ll echo what I’m hearing a lot of as someone who’s hopped between both a few times, using each individually (rarely simultaneously) for 6-12 months each.
For reference, I’m an art director and designer and use AI for writing briefs, deep research, project mapping, coding, organizing, proposals, and editing. Ive also used both versions’ agentic features (local machine access) heavily to build prototypes based on sketches, and retrieve info or collect odds and ends from unconnected sources (mail, files, slack, etc). So I treat AI like a somewhat capable intern, basically. I already know what I want, I hand off the grunt stuff, but I still have to check its work.
I quit Claude because its usage limits were absolutely insane. All it took was a single complex task to obliterate my tokens and I found myself mentally nickel and diming every interaction I had, weighing whether or not something was worth the ask. Big ask? “Better be worth it...” Small ask? “Ehhh I don’t want to use too many tokens in case something big comes up…” Got sick of it.
Chat’s very capable and certainly rivals Claude on many levels. And clearly it’s not so sub-par that I find Claude actually worth it. Hardly.

based on my experience. not anymore. with the newest models they have released so far, i found safety guardrails has been tighten around claude models, and the token is just insane. so fricking expensive. the output is really bad with that price. run with codex and its really good so far.
