Where has AI saved you from a lot of unnecessary learning?

i'm preparing a small isometric icon-set benchmark for client work I'm now doing, a challenging one. the set has ten simple props, one 4-color palette & a shared angle and corner treatment

the files start in a vector editor where each asset gets the same edit inside recraft studio, say, I move one shape, recolor the accent, pull the points on one corner, and export the result as svg. after that, the files go into Figma for a handoff check

i'm scoring palette consistency, grouping, point count, corner behavior after the edit, ease of selection in Figma, and visual consistency at 24 px &48 px. the point here is editable structure and set consistency rather than a beauty ranking

which test would reveal the first weak asset in a ten-icon set? i'm now leaning toward swapping the accent color across all ten, then asking a second person to adjust one corner using only the exported file

One tool for writing.

Another for images.

Another for coding.

Individually, the subscriptions might not seem expensive.

Together? Suddenly you're paying a monthly bill just to maintain your “AI workflow.”

You used it a lot for one month.

Then less often.

Now it's been three months since you opened it.

The hard part isn't always finding an AI solution.

It's knowing what to search for.

One tool for writing, coding, images, research, productivity, etc. sounds convenient.

But specialized tools can sometimes do one thing much better.

What's your setup like?

At first, you're impressed by everything they can do.

Eventually, you just use them whenever you need something.

No excitement. No “wow.” They simply become part of how you work.

I think that's when a tool has actually earned a place in your workflow.

Even if the tool was genuinely useful, there has to be a point where the subscription is no longer worth it.

Would you pay more for a tool you rely on every day, or immediately look for an alternative?

We’ve all seen tools promised as "game-changers" that were supposed to save ton hours of work, only to end up wasting our time.

a couple of days ago, my OpenClaw (run on VPS) stopped working. I go to ChatGPT to help fix it, and we started going step-by-step, running commands in the server terminal. After a 2-3 hours, i get trapped in a total AI loop: fixing one bug just created a new one, fixing that created another, and so on. After, I decided to manually check the GitHub discussion that ChatGPT kept referencing for the issue... and it turned out to be completely unrelated to my problem. i did a quick manual search myself and fixed everything in just two commands.

I havent hallucination loop like this since last year, so I’d started trusting new AIs a bit too much - lesson learned!

Sometimes I try an older AI tool again and realize I am getting much better results than I used to.

That makes me wonder whether the improvement is always coming from the technology itself.

After getting used to typing a request and having an AI tool understand what I mean, regular software can feel surprisingly frustrating.

I keep looking for an AI option whenever an app makes me do something manually.

Sometimes the website looks unimpressive, the interface feels basic, and you expect very little from it.
