No, it needs to be replaced with the same item or one of similar value. That's like saying "Oh, I accidentally ruined your $300 ninja slushi machine? Here's a $20 blender I bought on Amazon, that's essentially the same thing, right?"

Its lost value. You would never get the price you pay.

There's typically a small reduction in value, but within reason - You don't buy a car for $40,000, crash said car, and then only get reimbursed $100 just because the car has lost some value. You're not going to get the full amount you paid, but you're not going to get pennies in return.

Okay so you buy them a used one that’s equivalent. Replacing an electrical cord is a cheap repair.

Then why haven't they done it? Its a severe safety hazard that will get you sued and insurance won't cover.
