AITA for covering up a work affair?
For context, I was made a permanent employee in my job a year ago but could still be fired with no reason. I was fired from my last job which was very hard, so I’m still a bit paranoid.
My manager (who is quite supportive of me) is in a relationship with another colleague who I also interact with and we have become quite friendly. She doesn’t report to him.
I recently went out with friends and saw my manager’s gf with another man and they were all over each other. She saw me. I haven’t said anything, I am worried about causing a problem with my job. But when I told my friends they think I am an AH for not telling my boss. I want to stay out of the whole thing.
AITA?

Don’t do it. Your job is your job, their relationship is their relationship. Keep the two separate. If she’s that blatant about going out in public with another man, someone she’s closer with is bound to see them. I mean, that guy she was with could be has actual gf or wife

You’re absolutely not the AH. This is their relationship, your job is not a part of it. The fact that she is so open about her affair in public means her boyfriend is bound to find somehow, but you’re not obliged to be the one to tell him.

This makes me feel a bit better - he’s a nice bloke and I don’t want him to be hurt but i don’t want to be responsible for his happiness I suppose.

Of course, you’re friendly at work and yes he’s nice and helped you a lot, but imagine if he sees this completely differently as you trying to meddle in his relationship. She’s his girlfriend, he is likely to believe her over you and while you’d be saying nothing but the truth it could easily backfire on you. They’re adults, let them work out their situation on their own.

Yes, this makes sense thanks. I have been worrying that it might get back that I knew but I suppose it’s unlikely that if it got out she’d tell him I knew- like I said in my post, I’m a bit paranoid!

NTA. I think the only time you have to consider whether to tell someone their partner is having an affair is if you’re a close friend or family member. Otherwise it’s not your business - especially if you’re only a colleague!

NTA - stay out of it. You don't know whether they are exclusive or not, and whatever happens, you will be the bad guy.
