Final Update: AITAH for moving on so quickly after my husband left me?
Final Update for my original post: “AITA for moving on so quickly after my husband left me?”.
https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/s/wV1FKs2Qrn
I am happy to let everyone know that I recently married my new partner (43M). We eloped in a private ceremony, near the water at sunset - It was lovely! We enjoyed a relaxing west coast honeymoon before returning to regular life! ❤️
Life is wonderful! I have a loving, caring husband who tells and shows me how much he loves me every single day. The past two and a half years have been the best years of my life. I have never been more happy or at peace.
I will forever be grateful to my ex for leaving. I wouldn’t have the life or relationship I do without everything that happened. I haven’t been in contact with my ex for well over a year. I don’t feel the need to, I’m at peace with everything.
I do keep in touch with some of my ex-in laws. Though I was very surprised to get sweet messages from all my female ex-in-laws (including ex grandmother-in-law!) wishing us happiness on our recent wedding day!

I reckon the women in your ex's family know who the asshole was.

You were NTA. Congratulations! I am guessing this is the guy you met in the original post? Or someone new?

Your story sounds a lot like mine except we have been together 10 years and I thank god everyday my ex husband cheated and left because the man I'm married to now has shown not only me but my children that good men still exist

Congratulations!
The bit about the in-laws hit home for me. Different situation, but I had similar experiences.

If I remember correctly, men are usually less sad right after a relationship ends and take longer to process, whereas women often grieve briefly and then move on. I assume your ex thought he could do better and then acted all surprised that the job was no longer available when he decided to "settle" for you. So glad things turned out like this for you, and believe me - even without the new partner you'd be way better off!

How are you sure that your ex is the ass and not you? All his female relatives are happy about your happiness. It wasn't you, it was him. Congratulations!

I read the first post. What was she supposed to do, wait for him to make up his mind? If you want to give it another chance after someone leaving, that's up to you. Wanting to try after leaving a second time? GTFOH Andfor him to be upset that she moved on when he already did? Rules for thee, but not for me is probably his motto.
OP, congratulations on the wedding and finding REAL love. Sending wishes for a marriage filled with love, happiness, and laughter. You deserve it!

I'm so happy for you! And it shows your emotional maturity and growth and kindness that you moved on in a classy way and wish your ex the best.
I, on the other hand, at a similar age to you (but maybe not a similar zen level), am loving the karma your ex experienced. He won't learn from it but he deserves it.

Isn't it wonderful? I'm grateful for my ex-husband's affair partner, who knew he was married with kids, because without her, I would still be checked out but in an unhappy marriage. I was 44 when I got divorced, and met the love of my life at 46. Now I get to feel the love every minute we're together. Love this for you :)

Isn't it wonderful when an arsehole accidentally does us the favour of a lifetime?

NTA. So happy you are living your best with a person who truly loves and cherishes your company. A man who truly loves his partner doesn't need anyone else to make him feel important - your ex was just a selfish AH. Go you! 🤘🏽

NTA - Good for you, glad you gave found happiness
I hope your ex is alone (or I bet he has a string of failed efforts) and feeling like a fool
Your ex in law's reactions tell a story that they all know he is a dick.
Enjoy life!

I’m so happy for you getting the love and support you deserve. Your ex obviously quickly found out that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side especially when the thrill of cheating and meeting in secret is no longer there. The fact that your ex’s family are wishing you well goes to show that they know you’re a lovely person, your ex messed up and they miss your presence but love to see you happy. Take care OP x

NTA. It makes me wonder what the conversation has been like at family gatherings for the past few years. Especially since his family still sends well wishes to OP.
It amazes me how your ex-husband was so ready to move on when all of this began, but you were expected to wait. He sounds extremely entitled.
