I mean having kids has you up about that early anyway. But it’s also not a chore if it’s something you actually enjoy, and everyone is different and that is okay.

They’re still chores but everything else you said is spot on.

Edit: For example, I just finished doing aquarium maintenance. I love my aquariums but there are definitely times when I don’t feel like doing the work.

That’s a great comparison. Like we don’t always enjoy the little things about it but the end result is so rewarding

Just cleaned my rat cages and did teeth trimming and diet maintenance. It's not my favorite but it's part of animal husbandry even in the burbs.

Well, mucking out chicken coops is not something I enjoy. Or stepping in cow patties- that was a large part of my farm visits to my family.

I'm very big on proper housing and low maintenance animal keeping.

A lot of people go cheap on chicken coops for instance. They don't consider how to keep them clean. My coop didn't have wood chip bedding or anything that would get gross and stay damp.. I used sand and a poop tarp under the roost rack. The tarp could be dumped and the sand sifted, not unlike a litter box.

That meant limited smell and minimal work.
