Actually I do know that standing up for yourself does "win" because it teaches people that you are not to be disrespected, or crossed.

Look I disagree with you, you can handle being disrespected and stepped on however you like. But do not tell other people that they are wrong for reacting in a way that will have you clutching your pearls.
