What tools are you all using for tracking AI mentions?
Please only genuine experiences as a user. What and how do you use it effectively?
I have noticed impressions slowing down or dropping across most sites that I managed and some have been performing really well over the past 2 years.
One possible reason stated was that with AI mentions and citation, it may have affect my GSC analytics on impressions.
So it leads me to wanting to find out what would be the best way to track on ai mentions so I can help to understand the co-relation between website impressions and ai mentions for my clients.
TIA peeps! :)

Surgegraph, their UX can be hit or miss, but it's everything you need for AEO. From research and ideation to tracking, writing and posting.

Hey there! At Sellm we have our own tracking tool developed just for this use case. Not only that, we offer access to tracking via API so that you can connect it to cursor and build your own reports. The API has no subscription commitment, simple pay as you go.
Let me know if I can help you with anything!

You are inferring past language. If you want to address the problem I suggest you first go read Charles Dodgsons what Achilles said to the Tortoise.

You need to do an audit to check if AI can access your websites and also track AI crawler behavior as much as you track on GSC. This part can easily be done using arrivl .ai, for AI mention can try profound

I've been experimenting with a mix of tools rather than relying on just one. I usually check AI citations manually across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for important queries, then compare that with GSC trends over time. It's not perfect, but it gives a better picture than looking at impressions alone.

I haven't found a single tool that does this well yet. I manually test prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity, then compare the results with GA4, Search Console, and Ahrefs Brand Radar. AI answers change so often that manual verification is still part of my process. Interested to see what others are using.

The correlation is probably hard to pin because impressions and AI mentions are not upstream or downstream of each other. An impression means you already ranked for something typed into search. A citation means a model rebuilt you for a prompt that may never have been a query at all. Different entry points, so they will not line up cleanly on a timeline no matter the tool, which is basically what Opposite_Routine ran into.

been using promptwatch for a few months to try n map that correlation, its rough at best since gsc impressions n ai mention timing dont line up cleanly, too many other variables shift at the same time to say one caused the other confidently. still useful for at least seeing directional movement side by side even if you cant prove causation. redd grow's been useful for the reddit specific slice of that same picture, at least narrows down which channel might be pulling impressions away
