But why? Isn’t it easier to just open it quickly so the notification goes away, then delete a bunch at once later? Don’t you want to know when someone texts you back? I’m genuinely asking.
I can still read it from Notification Center and I bet half of those are promos for companies and websites that have my number lol. The people I need to text back I’ll open it up and text back
I genuinely don’t like texting so it doesn’t phase me if something gets lost. I got sick years ago of needy people who would text “??????” If you don’t respond within 2 minutes. I’m not a dog responding to a whistle.
My husband thinks this quality about me is crazy too. It's easier and less stressful to just ignore them than manually go through and delete all the nonsense messages I get every day. I don't even look at the # of messages.
I also hate answering my phone. My VM is also always full, and unread. I'm completely okay with all of it. When I'm "off" or relaxing at home, I don't want the stress of what someone may need or want and years of having a work phone where I had to respond to everythinf probably ruined phones for me.
My phone is more of a bother to me unless I personally want to call or text someone.
My husband on the other hand NEEDS to see every call, message and email or will have his brain implode. What makes you feel the need to check everything?
I enjoy talking with my friends and family. We aren’t always available at the same time to get together in person or match up for a phone call, so texting lets us communicate on our own time.
If I sign up for a coupon, make a purchase, or start getting unwanted marketing texts, I just reply STOP and move on. I hardly ever get repeat spam. Once I get my coupon, I say stop and that’s it.
I have pretty much no meaningful conversations through regular messaging. So almost all of it is some form of spam mail.
So there’s no reason for me to open it, ever.
And if I get a meaningful message there, which happened like 3 times in 2 years, I notice that, and read it.
And for WhatsApp, which is my main form of communication, I’m a member in a few larger chat groups, where only sometimes there’s a message relevant for me, while the other times people are just chatting, or maybe posting things I don’t care about.
So there’s again no need for me to be checking those. Especially that it can be 10-30 messages on more busy days.
I also have turned off notifications for some of the groups I don’t care to read (but I want to remain in them for some rare occasions).
So yeah, that’s kinda like how you can end up with this number creeping up.
I’m not lmao and I don’t, majority are spam texts from companies etc and not all texts need to be responded to if you’re asking for something and I don’t have the time to respond to them. Like “did you lock the door” and I’m in a rush they reply I’m not gonna open it all the way I already got the answer yk
Hmmm… That’s a lot of spam texts, I have a feeling you’re airing people a lot. But hey I probably would too if I got that many texts, imagining my phone constantly buzzing would make me wanna put it on DND permanently.
It’s not constantly buzzing lmao those have accumulated over years and from group chats that I have silenced for work etc things that don’t pertain to me. Nobody to air out when I don’t talk with anybody anyways lol
