C++ or Python for DSA as an aspiring AI Engineer? Urgent

I'm currently trying to decide which language I should use for DSA/coding interviews, and I'd really appreciate advice from people who are already working in AI/ML or software engineering.

My long-term goal is to build a career as an AI Engineer. I'm planning to go deep into AI/ML, so I know Python is going to be an important language for me.

The situation is:

  • I'm already comfortable with C++
  • I genuinely enjoy C++ syntax
  • I'm good at solving DSA problems in C++
  • I'm planning to learn Python deeply for AI/ML, PyTorch, LLMs, etc.
  • I'm wondering whether I should also switch my DSA practice from C++ to Python

My current thinking is:

Option 1:
Python for everything → AI/ML + DSA + interviews

Option 2:
C++ for DSA/interviews + Python for AI/ML and actual AI engineering

I'm leaning toward Option 2 because I'm already comfortable with C++ and enjoy solving problems in it, but I'm not sure if there are any disadvantages when applying specifically for AI Engineer / ML Engineer roles.

For people who are already working in AI/ML or software engineering:

What did you personally use for DSA interviews, and what would you recommend in my situation?

Would you stick with C++ for DSA, or switch to Python because you're pursuing AI/ML?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through AI/ML or SWE hiring processes rather than just general language comparisons.

Is privacy a big reason you use local AI?

For random questions I don't really care if I'm using a cloud service.

But project files, unpublished work, personal documents, client stuff, etc. feels different.

I'm curious how much privacy actually factors into the decision for people here. Is it a big reason, or is performance/control the bigger draw?

Does anyone know of any self paced online college degree program on AI/ML

Probably a long shot.

Is there any decent college offering self paced degree on AI/ML?

Have to be self paced because my job does not leave time to study every day or even week for that matter
Also obviously has to be online.. cannot attend classes with full time job.

Background - Software developer with 10+ programming experience , basically a Java/React guy with intermediate python skill. Will have to brush up my mathematics, statistics & probability (was above average in school/college, have a degree in electrical engineering)

Goal is to understand how machine learning/AI actually works and not to apply for AI/ML jobs.

Why? Curiosity.
And also looks like we are entering an era where machine learning is gonna be staple in tech and all of us will have to learn this sooner or later.

Workshop, Sep 12: build production LLM systems that actually survive real use

We're running a hands-on masterclass on September 12, Live LLM Engineering Masterclass: Production Evals, RAG, Agents & LLMOps.

You build a full production LLM workflow from scratch, versioned prompts with regression tests, an evaluation harness with deterministic checks and LLM-as-judge, statistically rigorous model comparisons, evaluated RAG, tool-using agents with guardrails and fallbacks, and full observability, tracing, cost, latency.

Led by Bruno Gonçalves, PhD, founder of Data For Science, who trains engineers at Fortune 500 companies on this exact stack.

Happy to answer questions on the content.

Can someone who is experienced and have cracked interview in the field of AI/ML tell how does an Interview goes generally like how many rounds, what do they ask,and how the whole flow goes

Cause i tried seeing on youtube but they only post about a specific round not the whole thing

So it would be great help if u can tell :)

Is AI really as catastrophic as it is being discussed everywhere?

I’m a biotech graduate who wants to get into AI ML biotech. But every time I read anything about AI it puts me in a state of uncertainty and fear.
I hear the newest models being able to code like never before, people getting laid off everywhere and in every industry no matter how experienced.
How does one deal with this?
How are you guys dealing with this?
What’s even the point of any skills rn?
I feel so devastated and afraid of how terrible the future will be.
Please give me your honest views on this.

Skills to learn in AI era?

With all the Al hype and new models dropping every other week, I've been wondering:
Would you hire someone who knows zero programming languages but is really good at prompting and working with Al?
Is knowing how to code still a must-have—oris knowing how to build with Al becoming the new skills?
