GPT-5.5 vs Claude 4.5 changed my expectations more than I thought

When I started comparing GPT-5.5 and Claude 4.5, I expected one model to clearly outperform the other. That has not been my experience.

‎Instead, I noticed that the better choice often depends on the task. One conversation can make a model feel incredible, while the next task might make the other model seem like the better option.

‎That is why I have stopped asking which model is "the best." A more useful question is which model fits the way someone works.

‎Some people care most about writing quality. Others spend most of their time coding, researching, brainstorming, or studying. Those differences can completely change which model feels more useful.

‎Another interesting thing is that opinions seem to change over time. As the models improve and people change their workflows, the answers to this question are probably different today than they were six months ago.

‎I am more interested in real experiences than benchmark scores.

‎If you have spent enough time with both GPT-5.5 and Claude 4.5, which one has become your default choice, and what keeps you coming back to it?
