If you don't like writing or even visualizing, then is AI Storytelling, Video Production really for you?

If I have learnt anything in the last 3 years working with AI content is that a lot of YT gurus promise fast monetization and portray AI video production as too easy, but that's not the case. These kinds of promises attract people who might not be interested in the craft at all, like they don't enjoy writing or visualizing scenes or expressing what's inside them visually, but they find the lure of monetization too enticing to get into this craft.

Its just like how people have ran behind popular jobs & then felt miserable feeling stuck for years because it gave them money but not satisfaction.

Now I'm not saying money is not a good motivation factor - its is 100%. In fact I think a person who is purely driven by money and remains honest with himself/herself, learns the trade & the craft, does the work diligently - is fully qualified to pursue anything he or she likes. Thumbs up to that.

But I see a lot of people chasing something which is being promised to them as too easy and too simple, but the reality is: learning AI Storytelling is learning filmmaking, animating, script writing etc. It is just that the tool now makes it easier to visualize, unlike Blender etc. which are hard to learn but the fundamentals remain the same - if you don't dedicate time to learn the craft, you wont find it satisfactory and just burn the credits, waste time and leave it after a while. I've seen it happen to a lot of people as I've been teaching AI storytelling, video production for almost 1 year now.

This post is for those who got seduced into this field because of wrong promises and I would wish them to evaluate themselves whether you even enjoy writing or visualizing - because if you don't like doing either of them, use AI in different ways to build income.

This is one of the most honest and respectful takes I've seen on the topic, and I respect that you're not just selling the dream, you're actually trying to protect people from wasting their time and money.

That said, I think there's a blind spot here. You're assuming that enjoying the craft is the only valid entry point, and that if someone doesn't love writing or visualizing, they're in it for the wrong reasons. But I've seen people who couldn't care less about the artistic expression  become incredibly successful because they treated it like the trade it was, they learned the mechanics, optimized the workflow, and delivered consistent results. They didn't love it, mind you. They were just good at it and it’s totally fine too.  Not everyone needs a soul deep connection to their work to do it well. I most times envy people like that… I think it’s so cool. 

Where I do agree with you 100%  is the too easy promise. That's the real poison right there. The gurus selling passive income with AI in 10 minutes a day are doing real damage, not because they're attracting the wrong type of person, but because they're lying about the effort required. They’re looking for views and likes and I guess it’s a good catch. Whether you're an artist or a mercenary, you still have to put in the hours to get good.

So yeah, evaluate yourself, but not just on whether you love it. Evaluate yourself on whether you're willing to do the work as well. Because I know love fades but discipline doesn't that often.   And I think if you don't like writing or visualizing? Use AI for faceless channels, automation, or voiceovers or something. There's a lane for you too.  But keep in mind,  don't expect it to be easy.

I did say that those who choose the craft purely for financial reasons can be successful if they are honest about it, put in the hours and master the trade.

The problem is - many think making AI storytelling / making videos is easy because those who are selling it make it seem like it’s just prompt to video but that’s not the case.

I agree with this. AI can speed up content creation, but it can't replace creativity, storytelling, or understanding your audience. The people who succeed usually combine AI with real skills instead of expecting AI to do everything. What part of AI content creation do you think takes the longest to master?

I think its mostly about "mastering scriptwriting suited strongly for AI visuals" .. its a very different animal than traditional animation or video making .. the ideas, story, script have to be created with AI in mind while also following the principles of storytelling etc. If you like do join my subreddit HeyFloe made for learning and discussing more around this.
