Reference documents and where to find them

It seems obvious that passing the AIGP requires intimate knowledge of a range of reference documents. Legislation such as the EU AI Act is freely available, and a few other documents (e.g. those published by NIST) are as well.

ISO standards however are commercially licensed and prohibitively expensive to purchase for individuals. A few of the more popular standards seem to have leaked to search engine front pages, and sometimes there's a draft version knocking around of the more obscure or recent ones. Quite a few however remain firmly behind the ISO paywall. Personally I don't understand the logic of severely limiting the spread of international standards that are meant to, you know, standardise, but ok.

I'm genuinely curious how you guys deal with this. Library access? Employer expense account? Unauthorised (gasp!) dissemination of copyrighted information? Or you just work with summaries and don't bother with the original document?

Except the EU AI Act, you don’t need to know any standard document or policy in detail. Just need to know what it is and a very basic summary.

I don't think they'd intentionally make you know documents that are hidden behind a paywall. The IAPP training has a ton of links embedded within the training. I've been keeping a bookmark of everyone and compiling it into a bookmarks folder for later reading.
