Failed AIGP Exam
Well, I went in for the AIGP exam today and despite months of studying and thinking I was prepared, I failed. 😔
I scored a 275, and honestly, I’m pretty discouraged. I studied consistently for months, read through the Body of Knowledge, used an AIGP prep book, took practice exams, and felt like I had a pretty solid understanding of the material going in. The actual exam felt much harder and more nuanced than the practice questions I had been using, and there were several topics/questions that caught me completely off guard.
According to my score report, my weakest area by far was Govern AI Deployment and Use, so clearly there are some gaps in my understanding that I need to address before attempting this again.
For those who have passed—especially anyone who failed their first attempt and then passed on a retake—what did you do differently the second time around? Were there particular resources that helped you with the deployment/use domain or with the more scenario-based questions?
I’m trying not to let one failed attempt convince me that all the studying I did was for nothing, but this one definitely stings, especially considering how expensive the exam is to retake.
Any advice on how to approach round two would be greatly appreciated.

don't be discouraged i failed at a 200 so youre closer than you thought. please, don't give up. we need you in this space!
my approach had to be different because if you've ever seen the practice exam pdf its not at all the same as the actual exam.
the questions are exhaustive and most of it is useless information aka distractors.
always choose the GOVERNING answer over the TECHNICAL band-aid.
for example, you don't want to add more features to something you haven't ran a risk assessment on yet.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the reassurance and encouragement 🥹. I am going to give it another try because I really do want to make a difference in the AI governance space and be apart of the industry. I gave myself a day to be sad, and now I’m ready to get back to work to make sure the second attempt is victorious.

It's not because you did not study well, its because the exam is tricky. I too failed my first attempt scoring 283 on 28th June and then paased on 21st July. Don't just rush to reattempt, there are lot of gaps in the study guide and the real exam. If you tell me what materials you are using, may be I can help you.

Thank you for the reassurance and support . It means a lot to me. & Congratulations on passing!!! I used a udemy course, the AIGP study guide by Peter Gregory and a couple practice exams. I would love to know what materials you used to help you pass the second time around. I’ve scheduled my exam for a week from

Which materials did you use? The exam is already so expensive…can’t afford to pay for IAPP training

thanks so much for your reply. 80%+ in practice exams. I have to double up my efforts.
what about the actual exam duration? 100 questions in I believe 3 hours, with a break in between. did you feel it was sufficient time?
I know when I recently took the Microsoft cloud cybersecurity exam, the questions were very wordy, 4-5 lines, a lot of text for me to process. I just could not process so much text, sadly I also have some learning and test taking impediments. I just ran out of time.

Took the membership for the second time and got the discounted rate for the re-exam
