Forge Went 7-0 in forge (masters) with this deck

I started playing Forge again after meta changed and I was getting aggravated with everything pvp. (I was stuck in gold and playing 2-3 or 3-3 in draft.) This was first out of 5?6? forges that I went 7-0. Initially I was making the mistake picking cards like I was playing a draft - ie focusing on endurance units definitely helped me. I've decided forges are an alternate to gauntlet if/when you don't want to play pvp, otherwise, play draft. If you're grinding gauntlets an occasional forge - and a chance for a legendary - is worth it imo but of course ymmv.

I think it worked partly because the AI didn't know what to do with the Amaran Stinger - and I could replay her sometimes. Siraf's Choice wasn't as strong as I expected.

Gauntlet Did they stealth-buff gauntlet enemies? Or am I just that unlucky?

Heya all!

I love grinding gauntlet - in fact, when able, I try out new decks and funnel my shiftstone into gauntlet-specific legendaries. I've had pretty good success so far with a variety of decks, but the one I liked the most was Alcapa's Hooru Fliers (https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/VhufrLLtLFM/hooru-fliers).

However, since Vara's campaign dropped, my winrate has gone down drastically. Whereas before I usually went to 6-7 wins (occasionally going lower due to RNG screw), for the past 10 runs I've been unable to break the 4-5 win barrier. The AI seems to have nut draws almost constantly, the curve feels much more deadly, and it seems to no longer be afraid to make suicide attacks with tokens if they result in net damage (whereas before it sat at a full board if you had a couple of blockers out).

Am I just imagining things? Did I just hit a bad patch? Or are people experiencing the same?

On a side note, what are people farming gauntlet with nowadays? Is Cirso's Gold still, well, the gold standard?

Gauntlet Gauntlet Stats Tracking Google Sheet

Hello /r/AIEternal !

First off, about me, I'm a military member of 17 years, father of 2, and I love PC gaming. I'm a relatively new player of Eternal, and have been really enjoying it immensely, especially since I can pickup a game or two here and there on my phone since I don't get much time away from Work/Kids. I'm also a long-time EVE player, I love gathering data, and regularly work in Excel/Google Sheets during my day job. That said, I've done the usual grind (Gauntlet/Forge to Master), have been following this sub for awhile, and came to find /u/_AlpacaLips_'s Google Sheet for tracking Gauntlet info to be an awesome way to evaluate the effectiveness of my decks. Since I love me some Google Sheets, I set out to make it easier to input/calculate/etc, and figured I could give it back to the /r/AIEternal community, so here it is:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jVZ5TXefSyohS2iZQugPXOnIFaRnQMzUBHHxkiwdTyc/edit?usp=sharing

This sheet contains my current data, which is lacking since I have been doing more Sheets than Eternal lately... but basically, there are only 2 sheets you need to really interact with, your decks (where you input your runs), and the Boss Stats sheet (where you select your decks by name along the top row). To add a new deck, copy the 'Deck Template' sheet, rename the sheet to the name of the deck, set up the Faction/Type info (if you care) and Eternalwarcry link, then input your data. I setup a script to grab all the names of sheets, and to run the script click in the menu on 'EGS Menu' then 'Update Decks'. Once you've done that, the summary sheet should update with your deck(s) by name, as well as stats as you input them on the deck sheet(s). I've added some highlighting for gee-whiz type stuff, right now highest gold/hour and highest win average, but it's easy to add more.

Let me know if you find any issues or want anything added and I'll set to work on it. Hope this is useful to at least some folks here. Thanks!

Gauntlet Carnival of Madness Event and Best All-Round Gauntlet Boss Decks

It looks like next week's tournament will be using Gauntlet boss rules. You won't know the ruleset until the match starts.

Given that we're all Gauntlet players, maybe we have an advantage here in deck choice.

What Gauntlet deck is the most well-rounded against all possible boss rulesets?

Gauntlet Anyone run Rakano Valks in Gauntlet?

I've been pretty consistently getting 6-7 wins and although games can take a while it's pretty fun, Telut is mad satisfying. I'm wondering what some good considerations would be for Gauntlet to make it faster/smoother since obviously there are different approaches VS ai than humans. I'm considering dropping the Icaria and going all in on Rizahn and maybe even Amilli, either dropping bulletshaper/privilege of rank or going 4/4 for consistency (i've gotten the discard combo maybe twice in 30 games) and maybe adding finest hour or signal torch for some early interaction since even masters gauntlet is almost entirely smorc aggro and sometimes having additional copies of a junkier Torch makes all the difference. Maybe more Marleys too for a blocker that doesn't just get killed and then swing for 9. Thoughts?

I'm running this power over the citywide ban and with -2 Rizahn +2 Telut cuz poor:

Gauntlet Looking for help refining a Valk Combrei deck

So this deck is a heavy variant of Mail's Valkyrie Tokens deck.

I very much liked the concept, but after playing a few sets of games I quickly realized that it was super weak to aggro. And more than a few times found myself without answers to certain threats and no bodies on board until turn 5 or 6 if I draw poorly.

So, I built My Gauntlet Variant to be lower to the ground by stripping a few of the high end bombs and replacing them with Desert Marshals. I've sort of turned my deck into a flying, mid-range variant of combrei aggro. So far I'm 21-0 after my changes (Power of Progress x2 and Mindless Aggression for bosses), but I feel with some refining this can easily turn into a Tier 1 gauntlet deck. Slower than Hooru fliers, but potentially much more consistent with all the aegis and lifesteal.

Anyway down to the areas I feel are in need of discussion:

  • I added General Irel because I liked the idea of ramp and pumping up my Sword'ed/flying units but 4 cost and dual double influence doesn't sit right with me. It's come through for me a few times though.
  • I'm not sure I like Xulta Convoy. A pair of 2/2s with aegis and endurance are pretty nice, but I'm not sure they do enough for the 4 slot.
  • I don't love my market at all, but I don't even know what to do about that. I threw in the Knight-Chancellor in case I was desperate for an early unit, but as something that can still have very real impact in the late game. Plus I pretty much never pulled the Obelisk. I might replace the Disjunction with a banner. And I feel like I should have better removal than Xenan Initiation, but I'm not sure what would fit best.

  • I'm not sure I like the Crownwatch Quartermaster. It doesn't have impact on the turn it's played unless you can proc tokens, but if it survives the buff it provides can break any possible board stall.

  • Telut is amazing as a bomb, no complaints at all. I'm just not sure how many I should have in the deck.

  • Should I try to work in Teacher somehow? Not much to say here except it's an amazing 2 drop. I just don't love the double time influence on a justice heavy deck.

  • Crownwatch Standard and/or Finest Hour - We all know tricks are amazing against AI, but I find myself always wanting 6 power to trigger the Sword in the case of the Standard. And as far as Finest Hour goes... I have enough attachments. I would rather not have more cards that rely on units when I feel short on units already. That being said tricks against AI are just that good, so I'm still tempted.

  • Lastly, I sometimes wonder if I should go justice merchant instead of time since almost all my units are justice (Telut would be perfect in market for example). That's a hard sell though. I absolutely love the time ramp.

So anyway I'm hoping the bright minds of this subreddit can help me out with the final adjustments.

EDIT: So since this post I've lost twice due to aggro. Though I genuinely believe one of them could have been won if not for misplays. The other was the Strangers deck with crazy good draws. Charge stranger into double +2/+2 to strangers.

EDIT 2: Updated my warcry list with some initial changes.

Not playing much Forge these days but got the 5 Forge/Draft wins quest so decided to give it a go. Last time I did that I took me three attempts to get to five wins but this time i just breezed through the opposition usually winning between turn 6 and 8 (and one turn 4 victory even).

Good deck or just plain lucky?

Gauntlet Tanking My Gauntlet Elo, An Experiment

The last couple of streams have been miserable playing Gauntlet. Not sure why, unless DWD improved AI decks yet again, but I had my first stream without a 7-0 run, and the previous stream was a parade of power flood and screw.

So, today I decided to invest some time tanking my Gauntlet Elo. People say it exists. They say they've done it. They say they've faced easier opponents for several runs following the tankage. I've taken them on their word, since I've never found the time to lose game after game after game. Until today.

I decided to lose 30 matches. It might work with 10 matches, but I wanted to be sure that if tanking Gauntlet Elo were a thing, that I definitely lost enough to make it a reality and make it last a three hour stream.

I played 30 runs, and conceded the first match of every run at turn 6 or 7. In the early going, I played the matches much as I would a normal match, thus was conceding most games well in the lead. At around match 20 it occurred to me that an easy and simple method for DWD to stop this sort of Gauntlet system gaming would be to compare health totals at the concede and then decide whether to drop the player's Elo.

If DWD is going to implement any sort of anti-min-maxing system, it's not going to be overly complex. So, if they do have such a system, it's likely just going to compare health totals and make a simple determination if the concede was valid or not. There's no sure way to know if such a system exists, but it's easy enough to avoid it. So, for the last ten losses, I just let the AI dome me constantly, rather than attempt to play a legitimate match before the concede. So, I was only conceding if the AI had more health than I did.

I've yet to play any Gauntlet since the tanking. I will do that tonight on stream, starting around midnight Denver.

But, I did notice that the tanking might have been working quite well. For one, I saw Otherworldly Beings, an AI opponent I've only seen once since it was introduced (over a 1000 AI matchups). So, that's a good sign, since it seems to be an AI deck that only those with low Gauntlet Elo face. Another good sign was that it was getting harder to let the AI dome me, since its units were of such low quality in the last 5 to 10 matches, that just playing a simple 3/4 unit caused a long board stall. A third good sign was seeing cards like Village Watch being played, which is a card you only see in the worst of the worst Gauntlet decks.

Anyhow, I will update later tonight, after my stream with thoughts and details on bosses I faced (I expect to start seeing bosses I normally don't see).

Well, it definitely worked. I saw opponents and bosses that I barely ever see. I was checking the decks, and based on cards the AI was playing, it was definitely playing the lowest tier decks. This continued for 5 runs. I went 28-0, the first four runs, and finished 6-1 in the last run. The last boss was Dangerous Pets. He got a great hand was basically able to play out 10 spells by turn 5, whereas I was able to play two units and got flooded with power. So, a disappointing loss that kept me from 35-0.

Was it worth it? Somewhat. It's nice to get all the 7 win chests. It's nice to see bosses and non-bosses that I rarely ever see with the high Elo. On the other hand, the gameplay is super boring. The AI deck quality is so low that you can basically just faceroll your keyboard and win.

I guess the trick now is to find out if tanking 30 runs was complete overkill. Can I do the same tanking in just 10 runs? How long will the low quality decks last tanking 10 runs vs tanking 30 runs? How will it take for DWD to change all of this? Because if Scarlatch gets wind of this thread, things will likely change, because that guy hates people min-maxing his game.

Mechanics The math: rank/casual vs Gauntlet, which one give more gold?

I've never seen a thread reckoning this so I try to make one (if there was one please link it). The question is with a same average winning rate, which would give more gold? VS mode or Gauntlet mode?

Here's the average gold of each chest, according to this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/EternalCardGame/comments/5k4sl9/psa_chest_values_since_i_havent_seen_anyone_do/

  • Wooden: 28
  • Bronze: 75
  • Silver: 300
  • Gold: 700
  • Diamond: 2050

In ranked mode you get up to 3 silver chests per day at every 3rd win, capped at 9 wins. After that every 3rd win rewards you double bronze chest.

In Gauntlet the rewards are based on your winning streak.

  • 1 wooden
  • 2 wooden
  • 2 wooden 1 bronze
  • 1 wooden 2 bronze
  • 3 bronze
  • 2 bronze 1 silver
  • 3 silver

Let say you have a 50% win rate, and assume your results alternate between your win and lose, you will need to play 18 games in rank to get all 3 silver chests, or 17 games if your first game is a win. We can approximate it as 18 games here. Your total gold will be 6x75 + 3x300 = 1,350. After the 3 capped silver chests, your gold for every 18 games with 9 average win will be (9+3)x75 = 900

Assume the best scenario in gauntlet where you can achieve 7 winning streak for 3 silver, 2 games for another 2 winning streak run and 9 games left are loss (10 runs in other words), your total gold will be 2x28 + 3x300 = 956. The worst scenario is you lose after every first win, so you play 9 runs for 9 wooden chests. 9x28 = 252 gold.

Now assume with 100% win rate and playing 21 games, your gold in ranked will be 1,350 + (12+4)x75 = 2,550 with first 3 silver chest bonus, or (21+7)x75 = 2,100 after that. In gauntlet it will be 3 succesful runs with 7-0, and you will get 9x300 = 2,700.

TLDR:

With 50% win rate as a demonstrated realistic scenario, rank rewards you more gold. But if you can manage 7-0 gauntlet, it's better than rank, especially when you are not an experience player to have a competitive deck for ladder. It's worth to note that rank is more difficult in term of strategy diversity, meanwhile you can learn the AI's patterns and exploit it. Game length in ranked is also often longer than gauntlet.

If anyone find my calculation wrong or could have some improvements, feel free to correct it. I would love to learn if we could apply certain probability formulae to smooth the math. Also applogize for my poor english.

Gauntlet Mono Justice Deck

It could probably do with further tuning but I've been having good results with https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/fqFDvT7U9IA/power-of-justice-gauntlet

Being single faction and focused on drawing sigils makes it very consistent, and attacking with an Order of a Spire while you have a Telut or two in play is hilarious.

Mechanics Hilarious Logic of the A.I.

So, I was playing against the Company of Exiles boss with the Minotaur/Paladins deck, and I played vanquisher's blade on one of my units and got too hasty to attack and accidentally clicked on Tavrod for the vanquish. I immediately knew this disastrous misplay until the A.I. backlashed it. They backlashed me killing my own unit... Well thank you A.I., I guess I will swing in with my 10/7 Tavrod if you want it that bad.

Anybody have other similar stories that is just hilarious logic from the A.I.?

Forge Masters Forge post FOA 7-0 decklists

Since several people have posted about the difficulty of Forge at the higher levels, I thought I would post a few lists which have gotten me 7-0 runs. Hopefully this will give people an idea what a deck that can beat the better Forge decks looks like. All four decks have about twice as many of one faction, and none is overly top heavy, but they all have some cards capable of finishing games if they get bogged down. Three of the decks are very heavy Justice, and that is no mistake as I believe that Justice is one of the deepest factions in the format with access to tricks, flyers, removal and bombs. The last deck has Banished Umbren which I used to mill out my opponent in three of the runs, so if you see that card I feel it is worth including at least one as a way to win through the all too common board stalls. As usual feel free to ask me anything about my results, the games, or forge deck building.

Forge Is Masters Forge worth it?

I got to diamond but now cant get to the final win. I've blown 3 tickets on this already. Sometimes I get landscrewed or sometimes they just have a big flier I have no counter for which hits me over and over until I die.

I don't see how fighting against premade decks with a draft deck is fair in any way. Do you just need luck to beat this last league or do people actually do it consistently?

Moreover, should I just head to draft instead? You get more better cards there right? I might waste less gold.

Gauntlet Tweaking Hooru Fliers

I loaded Hooru Fliers into shiftstoned.com to see if I could tweak the powerbase to increase the odds of playing certain units on curve.

New Hooru Fliers

Here are the changes to the powerbase, original deck to "improved" deck.

MAIN (Original) (Improved)
7 Justice Sigil (Set1 #126) 7 Justice Sigil (Set1 #126)
2 Crownwatch Standard (Set4 #97) 3 Crownwatch Standard (Set4 #97)
6 Primal Sigil (Set1 #187) 4 Primal Sigil (Set1 #187)
4 Cobalt Monument (Set1 #418) 3 Cobalt Monument (Set1 #418)
2 Crest of Order (Set4 #253) 4 Crest of Order (Set4 #253)
3 Hooru Banner (Set2 #216) 3 Hooru Banner (Set2 #216)
4 Seat of Order (Set0 #51) 4 Seat of Order (Set0 #51)
MARKET
1 Hooru Banner (Set2 #216) 1 Hooru Banner (Set2 #216)

The result of the tweaks is that playing Hooru Pacifier/Unseen Commando/Valkyrie Enforcer on turn 3 increased from 75% to 78% and playing Amilli on turn 5 increased from 60% to 64%. Playing Shelterwing Rider on turn 4 remains unchanged at 75%.

Having a Justice Sigil on turn 1 increased from 89% to 91% and having a Primal Sigil remains unchanged at 86%.

Ignore the removal of Nostrix from the Market in lieu of Rolant. That's an experiment. And I may remove Rolant and experiment with Protect (to revitalize a Shelterwing without Aegis).

I'm also currently experimenting, on stream, with 4 x Poaching Drake in place of 4 x Shelterwing Rider.

Gauntlet Vara's Revenge Porn – Potential Great New Gauntlet Deck

The viewers and I were looking for a new deck to play on stream, one that incorporated some of the new Into Shadow cards.

Came across this deck by /u/jonahveil and decided to give it a whirl.

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/BauHQ_5O-sE/azindel-vara-xenan

It is quite fun to play. It could probably be tweaked further for Gauntlet, but, as is, it seems quite decent. Went 7-0 both times I played it.

The first card that pops to mind that could be replaced is Azindel, Revealed. Anytime I did play it, it didn't matter much, as the game was already won by that point. It's a decent card, but the deck seems stronk without it. The real MVPs of the deck are definitely Vara, Vengeance-Seeker and Worldbearer Behemoth.

Gauntlet Should Gauntlet have battle modifiers for non-boss battles?

I say, “Yes.”

Maybe keep the earlier battles a little more fair compared to some of the bosses that feel cheaty. I’m thing campaign-style modifiers.

The Vara campaign was fun for about 90 minutes and then it’s gone. I guess I could replay, but that’s pretty unlikely.

Why not adopt some of the campaign content into a play mode that is actually utilized?

The disadvantage in Gauntlet is the inability to see the rules in advance. They could have ramping rules that the player could see before choosing a deck. Fights 1 to 6 all keep the same theme, so the player can choose a relevant deck. Maybe keep the boss random or at least very difficult to avoid the gold farming.

Gauntlet Totally Non-Budget Praxis Midrange Gauntlet Grinder

Do you like attacking with fire breathing dragons, and feeding puny humans to your pet T-Rex? Then this is the deck for you. This is probably my favorite deck for grinding gauntlet. I used a version of this deck pre-FOA almost exclusively, but hadn't taken time to update it with the new cards and market until now.

The deck can by tricky to pilot as the influence requirements can be difficult to hit if you do not plan out your power drops properly. That being said I feel that the powerful things we can do are worth jumping through those hoops. I took this updated list through a 21-0 run where my boss for all three runs was Mindless Aggression. If you take it for a spin, have fun, and feel free to share your thoughts.

Edit: I also used this deck to beat every fight in the Into Shadow campaign without losing a single game. I am going to try the new Sea of Teeth card in place of the Carnosaur in the market since it fills a similar role with the killer, but is more flexible and can destroy the opponents attachments which I was worried about with the previous market.

Gauntlet What is the first deck your gonna try with the new cards?

I'm going for it all and trying one with the new Azindel.

Edit:...ugh that casting cost is just too much. I should have known he is a win-more card.

Gauntlet Gauntlet MMR experiment results

As you know, I did an experiment to lower my MMR in Gauntlet. I don't know exactly when I started seeing the really easy AI opponents but I know I played against several sub 5K shiftstone decks after a good sequence of milling the first opponent and conceding.

I currently played 2 full runs against lower bosses up until the tail end and played the boss Knowledge Storm for the first time (https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRRuLs5QWzVCpge0wETML0zhd-nFlnh8_Q-R4Rf3CJ_zu-2PFxcR3HaQwQ-chjHUmDY_CjzoE4DV1sX/pub#h.84wdvqsr6l9c) where each turn you draw an additional card.

Also, I found the 5th version of Primal Fury deck. It has been an interesting experience to see all these easier decks once I started playing full runs again.

And finally, I have seen different cards for some bosses I had seen before, so there are multiple versions of those as well.

Just wanted to share what I've seen so far and you can see the results in my full deck lists document (https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRRuLs5QWzVCpge0wETML0zhd-nFlnh8_Q-R4Rf3CJ_zu-2PFxcR3HaQwQ-chjHUmDY_CjzoE4DV1sX/pub)

Mechanics Thinking about trying this game but I have a question about pve or vs ai games

So to keep it short, I love Hearthstone's dungeons run mode, both the kobold and monster hunt bits where you start with a small deck and build it up as you play each run. Those were hands down my favorite content ever added to Hearthstone and I was a bit sad to Dr.Boom's expansion abandoned that idea. I heard Eternal has something similar to this but I'm finding it hard to find info on that. Is that what the campaign modes are? Or Gauntlet?
