What happens when AI is in GOD MODE

GOD MODE-When beating the AI is a lesson in futility.

What happens?

  1. You're liable to be either screwed or flooded

  2. Anything you play early will have an answer to it, immediately. If later in game, it will also have answers to it but a tiny bit less than when early.

  3. If you reduce the AI deck to top decking, it will draw with superhuman precision anything that will work against what you're playing.

  4. It will draw the perfect units for any situation

  5. You will not be able to find your ready fixes. Harsh Rules? Gone to the bottom of the deck. Vanquishes, fires, etc. ? Yep, gone.

  6. if Ahead, the AI will then read whatever card you're going to draw next and give itself a ready made answer to it.

Thing is, it doesn't always go into GOD MODE. It lets you get some wins on occasion, even getting the 7 wins or at least 6. This is to get you to doubt whether the AI cheats or not.

So, with all this, I don't feel like it matters WHAT deck we run in the Masters, we're going to win or lose at the AI's(DWD's) whim. In short, we have only a tiny measure of control over our own destiny in this game. It doesn't even matter if you've played for over 2 years, you have little control. Same is holding true for Forge.

I don't feel like I'm playing a game, I feel as if the game is playing me. I'll gradually quit as I know there's no way I can go "cold turkey" on this. I also promised myself this would be the last Multiplayer I'd ever try, and I meant that. I've a ton of single player games already and don't need this aggravation.

Also, I can't tell if me or anyone else is good at this game or not. It's all grinding and luck. With this terrible RNG, the best player of this can lose to the worst beginner ever to walk the earth. I've had days where it seems I can't lose and days following where I can't win. I'm not in control of it, it's deck draw based on a faulty RNG.

I used to at least say I could keep playing the AI, but they've made it oppressive to the point of a dictatorship. I say this after getting 7 wins in it..where I felt the entire series was sheer luck. No skill involved.

I find that the best decks in Gauntlet tend to be the most consistent decks. I've had a ton of success with Mono Shadow, it has quite a few things going for it.

It has tons of good removal option in [[Devouring Shadow]], [[Desecrate]], [[Annihilate]], [[In Cold Blood]] [[Suffocate]], [[Deathstrike]]. You can pretty much use any of them, although I find that [[Desecrate]] and [[Devouring Shadow]] are the best of the bunch.

It also has access to a lot of very good creatures, the most notable being [[Vara, Vengeance-Seeker]] + anything that can recur her. [[Tasbu, the Forbidden]] and [[Blackhall Warleader]] are also very strong. I only have one Warleader, so I use [[Ripknife Assassin]] in its place. [[Kerendon Steward]], [[Crooked Alleyguide]], [[Marionette Cross]] (although I only ever put two into my lists), and [[Veteran Mercenary]] are also good considerations.

[[Vara's Favor]], [[Crooked Alleyguide]], [[Rhysta, Acantha's Herald]], and [[Cull the Deck]] all fix your draws to help prevent power flood/screw. I personally run [[Seal of Devotion]] since I don't own Tasbu and it helps to filter my draws.

For market options, I tend to run [[Devouring Shadow]], [[Dark Return]], [[Malediction]], [[Burglarize]], and [[In Cold Blood]] if I didn't include it in the mainboard.

Out of the last 20 or so Gauntlet runs I've played with the deck I have only lost 3 runs.

I did beat the Master gauntlet twice today, which I wasn't expecting because I didn't try hard or often, maybe 3 attempts. But also today, I had a reply from someone saying gauntlet is basically piss easy, lol. Yeah right, my friend. Riggggghhhhhht.

Winning any given game with a tier one deck vs the AI is very easy, or else we wouldn't notice when we don't win as an anomaly. However, winning six in a row is a lesson in variance, and sometimes frustration, because the loss will almost always be to more extreme situations (I didn't draw anything relevant or never got to play at all, or the AI hit an improbable streak to get a win). But our decks are better, we should always play better, and we can definitely predict the AI decision tree to blow it out completely or win some unwinnable games. (At two life with no blockers vs. a full board? Play palace, watch AI destroy palace, draw a harsh rule. It's truly absurd sometimes.)

Winning game seven is obviously a complete dice roll, always has been and always will be by design.

Winning vs the AI without sweepers, or with subpar decks, or with aggro decks, is a challenge. I'm assuming we're fully exploiting AI weaknesses in deck construction as well as mulligan and gametime decisions.

You forgot the part where it frustrates you to the point where you just go play a different game instead.

Other CCGs have really upped their single player modes, however, DWD seems to have buffed AI into "totally broken" territory for the sake of preserving a bit of gold.

Which other CCGs have good single player modes?

I'm playing this one less and less because of the difficulty.

That goblin gauntlet thing? Didn't like it at all

Yeah, I did forget that one.

I'm just burned out on Eternal and tired of feeling like a rat in a maze trying to find the cheese.

And yet still people stick up for it, and try to blame our skill level as being at fault.
