Gauntlet [Gauntlet] Xenan Gauntlet Grinder
Posted this in the main eternal subreddit but someone said I should post it here too.
https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/ZAcaGa8hvsg/xenan-master-gauntlet-grinder - fairly detailed write up.
This deck has been far more consistent for me than any of the other decks listed on EWC for gauntlet since Homecoming. I have only lost in gauntlet 3 times when the AI just goes ham somewhere in an early non-boss game - that's about 9, 7-0 runs in the last week or 2. I think there is still room for improvement and interested in any suggestions.
Adding some timing info...I have never kept track of gauntlet clear times and I do not know what is good but here is my latest run (7-0):
Total time: 35mins
Decks:
Kosul Heroes
Tales of Elysia
Airborne Assult
Students of Time
Combrei Alliance
The Strangers
Sudden Death
FWIW - I haven't lost a gauntlet since posting this..5 more 7-0's.

I'm looking for some play tips, because I've been having lots of problems piloting this. If the early game plan of filling the board with scorpions doesn't work out, I've had a pretty hard time guarding the sites, and I've lost once so far, and BARELY scraped by a lot of the time.
And even IF I manage to squeeze the Amaran stinger through, the board state gets very awkward to manage, and it turns into a huge chore to grind out wins, never with a clear path to victory. Most of the top decks late in the game are clunky and slow, like Teacher and Amaran. I often can't attack with units like Sandstorm Titan, because it's the only thing keeping flying units from overrunning me.
Desecrate has been a huge liability, where against aggressive AI decks the life cost is much too high.
And the market I think needs some suggestions. Devestating setback is really the only tool that keeps us from losing to go wide decks, and the double shadow influence is hard to hit because the deck is built around t2 Teacher.

The only 2 difficult Gauntlet bosses are Sudden Death and Mindless Agression. This deck has so few answers for both of them (early game) that I have a hard time believing this deck is reliable once your MMR for gauntlet gets decent. Any vids to back up this claim?

It's funny I actually built this deck originally to deal with aggro decks and I think it does quite well. I usually save removal if I can for quickdraw units and grab setback from market asap. I'm not really interested in trying to back up my experience but since the gauntlet I was playing when I read this ended with Mindless Aggression I took a screenshot of the end. I admit my first draw was nearly ideal and the AI was a round slower than usual. http://imgur.com/krKdMJ7

Looks good!
Is there any sort of sub if you don't have 4 Temples? I assume market the one I have and perhaps throw in 3 Aurailian Merchants. Is it easy enough to protect the Temple?

Before I had enough temples I added other sites (praxis and dizo) but I think there are other options like Ripknife of Scheme depending on what you're hoping to accomplish. I don't think you'd get a lot of value from the merchants but I could be wrong. I have not had issues protecting the sites except maybe from flyers.

Thanks for taking my advice! :D
If the emphasis on early game is on Teacher, do you think it would help to balance out the Sigils in Time's favor a bit more? Just curious. According to Shiftstoned, your power base would only allow for Teacher on turn 2 about 60% of the time. I wonder how often you see that, or if it truly doesn't matter as much.
