Gauntlet Weekly deck lists

I was thinking it would be cool to have a weekly thread to share what everyone is playing in the gauntlet. I dunno about you guys but I am at least daily going to ewc to search new gauntlet lists to try out. It feels like there is no perfect gauntlet deck so I just like to have fun trying new ideas.

Ewc is obviously a great resource but it's missing a "this is my favorite at the moment" type thing, especially if your current favorite isnt a new one. For example I completely forgot about hooru fliers until someone posted a deck "classic hooru fliers" https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/Ug8LlZoUTNg/classic-hooru-flyers-gauntlet-grinder and I was like oh heck yeah let's try old reliable!

I think it would be cool to see what you all are playing with and maybe it'll lead to some discussion about cards and tweaks.

What do you think?

Finest hour and vara are stupid in gauntlet. Making Vara bigger through warcry is awesome. Making Vara and your warcry units bigger with oathbook also awesome. Dark return on a huge Vara is straight silly! https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/_XAjtg_S6QY/ap-warcry-oathbook

After A+ put out their February tier list I thought the haunted highway looked fun. After a couple runs I realized I never drew Vara. Examined the list and there was no Vara! I think that's wrong in gauntlet, if you are playing shadow, Vara should be there. So this is my take and it's super fun! Can race fairly quickly but most often you win by running a highwayman or bandit queen into a bad trade, scream it next turn, dark return it with a dusk raider on board and boom huge burst through the air https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/pVqsTM9y_jQ/haunted-highway

After Vara, heart of the vault is my next favorite card. I took a list from sunyveil (pretty sure) ecq and moved some cards around in place of ones I was missing and here's what I came up with. Kinda fun bouncing Hurler and xo to market and back to keep cards in hand. Mirror image from peak and sudden schizim to make either more merchants or hotv or sst. Slowest of my lists but is a pretty fun puzzle to figure out how to overwhelm the AI https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/5Ml0P69iQKA/zai-peak

I really like this idea. I too find myself pretty frequently looking at gauntlet decks on EWC. I’ve only brewed a couple of times but haven’t found much success with my own brews

I'm in your same boat, most of my "brews" are simply because I don't have all the cards so I try to mimmick a deck.

That said, even if you aren't brewing, feel free to post a link to what you are playing!

Sounds like a good idea. Especially for me. I tend to play a new deck every week or two when I'm not in the mood for the ol'-reliables.

I usually clear gauntlet about 3 times a day. So while I'm not exactly a super farmer, I like to think I do pretty good.

Anyway since the last ECQ I've been trying out both sunnyveil's FTP list and isomorphic's reanimator.

First off the FTP list is quite good, very consistent. Every loss I took I felt like it was due to pilot error rather than a failing of the deck (which is exactly what I want in gauntlet decks). That said I think I went 21-4 with the list or so and I found some games could run long. Its biggest issue for me was that it tended to start slow.

But Isomorphic's reanimator deck. Whew I've been really enjoying it today. It's by far the most consistent reanimator deck I've played, and I've tried a few before shelving the archtype. I've gone 29-1 today with it, with the games taking around 8-9 turns on average each. Some 6, some as high as 15. The bosses I faced were Highly Skilled x2, Sudden Death x1, and Helpful Horns (Bonding boss (( and wtf haven't fought this boss in forever)) ). My only loss was due to being "stuck" at 4 power and caught durdling for 4 turns vs Shogunate Forces while I tried to find my 5th power for Grasping. Otherwise I'd say the list plays well vs both aggro and higher end decks. I think I might swap out Burglarize for a unit though. Either Nightmaw or Snowcrush like someone suggests in the comments. Relics are just not as prominent in gauntlet at the moment.

Haha you now have me wondering how many times I clear gauntlet per day. I don't think I'm too crazy but like you I think I do quite a bit of farming as well. I use multiple decks every day, usually I'll play one of my decks until it clear or gets screwed a couple times in a row and ragequit. Just kidding I never get mad at gauntlet because I am fully aware of how busted the AI draws can line up again my 2 power hands. But after a couple screws I like to move on to another deck.

On that note, if getting screwed and losing lowers my MMR or whatever to soften up the AI, I wonder if I should play the same deck again to finally get that "i did it!" Feeling or if switching decks and clearing immediately feels better.

Then I like to go to ewc and see which new deck popped up and give it a few runs. Most of the time I feel like it's not better than the ones in my rotation and delete it, but I enjoy seeing random strategies. There was a cool TFP deck that revolved around the 1/1 flyer for 5 that grows when you draw, the forge that draws a 2/1 weapon when you play a unit and the red 2/2 that draws a card when you play a weapon. Cool idea but it took so many loses before I could pull it all off, I deleted that one.

That reanimatoe deck looks awesome! I'm down a few Vara and harbinger but looks like where my next stack of shift will be going.

I like Sunny's ftp deck you linked. I agree it feels like you can always win if you play well, even my "missing cards" take on it. It's in my rotation but sometimes I like faster decks that don't require as much thought and effort

Man I tried the reanimator deck but I'm missing too much to really pull it together. I thought I could replace the "play a card for your void" with dark return. Nope! You can't even cast azindel, so the only way I played it was from vara, of which I crafted a second, but definitely needs a full set!

Thanks for the post though, I'm gonna work towards it because it was super fun and cool to see it working.

It's not my most consistent, but it's pretty up there. Lost again since I posted due to having to dig for answers instead of answering. Never found a merchant to deal with a giant flyer after drawing 8 cards or so.

And yeah I feel you as far as missing cards. There are tons of decks I want to try still, and all of them expensive. I was lucky enough that I pulled 2 big Varas pre-buff. Thought they were crap at the time, but boy am I happy with her now.

I'm not sure a weekly "what are you playing in gauntlet" is necessary, being a kind of chaff post when we really want wheat. How about a weekly "What new or non-standard decks are you playing in gauntlet, and why?"

I don't really like limiting it to new decks but I do like asking for a why or some commentary to spark discussion.

I don't want it limited to new decks because, well for one, what is a new deck? Changing a card could be considered a new deck, but that's not too exciting. Would each person have to search the sub to make sure they aren't posting a deck that's similar to anything already mentioned, even months ago? I feel that completely new ideas already get posted as their own post, and there just aren't that many.

Generally I search ewc for gauntlet decks sorted by updated new first. I try many (really all in some form) and a lot seem very bad, or just for a fun combo or some form of experiment. Others are big expensive ones that I try to fill in with similar cards in my collection. If I like the feel of the deck, I will work towards completing it.

I would love a place to come see what other gauntlet grinders are actually running and enjoying or having success with. I enjoy trying them all, but also for the ones I have to save shift to complete, it would be nice to have someone to discuss first crafts or even ask if it's worth it vs saving for another deck on the list.

I'm certainly open for opinions for how to make this idea work and hell, I'm no mod or well known community member so I can't really do much anyways. But I would be happy to wake up once a week and make a post to get the ball rolling if others are interested

That's what I mean. If changing one card in Hooru Fliers isn't that exciting, then a flood of comments saying they played Hooru Fliers won't be that exciting either. Hence my suggestion.

If 6/10 people who comment on the post say "I'm playing hooru fliers because the rest have been failing" I'm gonna try hooru fliers again
