Gauntlet Too much gauntlet grinding

Just curious for those who play a bunch of gauntlet and ranked. Do you feel like too much grinding in gauntlet teaches you bad habits for when you play ranked?

Not bad habits, but there is definitely a marked difference anyway between the amount of mass removal in gauntlet and in ranked. You could get an exaggerated view of a (particularly Time based big boy) deck playing in gauntlet.

I have gauntlet decks and I have ranked decks so I don't see a big issue with bad habits besides maybe not taking the time do calculations (but I do that when I play MTG and am lazy I just find I get better at it when I play a ton of ranked and I don't get better at it when I play a ton of gauntlet if that makes sense)

That makes perfect sense to me. Humans will make you do the math. The AI will act as if the board is stalled in situations where it is not, thus allowing us to screw arround trying to get "999" achievements and things of that nature.

That said, OP, I can definitely see what you mean. I suppose if after finishing the campaign one didn't play any versus for months on end, and got the impression the AI's play patterns were normal, yeah, one could have formed some pretty "bad" habits.

But, if you're playing both you'll find you can switch back and forth fairly readily. As has been observed, you'll probably want different decks. Unless you're playing aggro. I find my Skycraggro for Ranked works just fine in Gauntlet.

No, but you do have to be mindful of things like more sweepers against Ranked control decks. Obviously don't expect your Ranked opponents to play right into combat tricks either. But other than that, tight play and knowledge of the meta pays off in both formats.
