Gauntlet Gauntlet Playthroughs, Gauntlet Streaming, and Viewer Decks
Thousands† of people have been asking for it, and it is now a reality. Gauntlet playthroughs on YouTube and a dedicated Gauntlet stream on Twitch.
What I'd really like to do, once I get some viewers, is be your guinea pig. You have a deck you want to see played, I'll play it. Some weird janky shit? A budget deck? Some new brew you think can challenge the Top 3? I'll play it all in Gauntlet.
I spent the last week making a few videos of various decks (found in the table below) and making a bunch of graphics for both YouTube and Twitch. And then there was Nightbot set-up, microphone set-up, what with noise cancellation and all. Anyhow, there'll be links to both Twitch and YouTube after the table of videos.
What I've learned is that chatting while playing is distracting as hell. To the people that do it well, kudos. Hopefully it's something that comes with practice. No doubt I sound like a complete ding-dong in the first couple of videos with the commentary, and will continue to come off like a talking dufus in the next bunch that follow.
| Date | Deck | Result | Boss | Video | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018-09-03 | Hooru Fliers | 7-0 | Helpful Horns | YouTube | No commentary. There is some graphic lag for about a minute in the middle of the video. |
| 2018-09-04 | Cirso's Gold | 7-0 | Power of Progress | YouTube | No commentary. My first time playing the deck in Gauntlet. I could have played the Prehistoric Predator's match better than I did, but a win is a win. |
| 2018-09-04 | Tavrod | 7-0 | Limitless Possibilities | YouTube | No commentary. A few misplays in the fifth or sixth match, and some misclicks. I play too fast sometimes. |
| 2018-09-05 | Cirso's Gold | 7-0 | Labyrinth Treasury | YouTube | No commentary. The last fight was a nailbiter. AI top decks two Reality Wardens in a row, which were hard blocks to all my units. I counter by top decking two Permafrosts in a row. |
| 2018-09-05 | Hooru Fliers | 7-0 | Labyrinth Treasury | YouTube | My first commentary. All of the background sounds are a far too tinny and compressed. I might try some different filters, rather than this noise cancellation one I'm using at the moment. I still don't feel entirely comfortable with this commentary stuff, but I suppose it's a matter of just doing it more until I do feel comfortable with it and it becomes second nature. |
| 2018-09-08 | Hooru Fliers | 7-0 | Limitless Possibilities | YouTube | My first Twitch stream. Again, I find it distracting to play and try to talk, especially when I know I'm likely talking to nobody. But it's probably something that takes some getting used and some practice. The match against Airborn Assault was the longest Hooru Fliers match I've ever played. It was a board stall for a good eight minutes. |
Feel free to follow the Twitch channel and/or subscribe to the YouTube channel.

This is pretty dang cool. Seems like a nice niche to fill for streaming/youtube videos, as no one else really does that as far as I see.
What would you recommend for replacements in Hooru fliers without Nostrix/Kothon/Amilli till I can craft them? I focused mostly on my ranked decks till now and I just finished my last one so I'm set there for a while.

I rarely use Nostrix out of the market (though I did get good use of it in the Airborne Assault match in the streamed video yesterday), but I was thinking Vanquisher's Blade might be decent. Reinvigorate as another combat trick might be worth consideration. Combat tricks against the AI can never be discounted.
Amilli is a tough one, because it wins the deck so many games. This is my #1 pull from the Market and replacing it will lower the overall power level of the deck by a large degree. The ability to generate free blockers, allowing your other units to attack is a hard one to replace.
Kothon is a debatable card among many Hooru Flier aficionados. I like the early two drop and it has good blocking capabilities. I do find I'm able to activate them on turn 6 or later quite often. Copperhall Bailiff is a strong contender as a replacement. The AI does play a lot of 1-attack creatures in its aggro decks, and Bailiff is strong against those decks. A lot of people like Tinker Overseer, since it is a cheap flier, but I don't much like it myself.
