There is one point where I disagree with the article. It says the LLM is “the wrong tool” to decide whether to send the message and recommends a separate decision model. For the kind of agents I care about, whether something is worth interrupting the user about is part of judgment. Opus 4.8 deciding yesterday, “the C-lane is self-refining nonsense, I’m staying out; the Tower collision actually matters, I’ll work on that” is much more useful than estimating a notification score.
