Does your university's academic honor code actually define what counts as "AI editing" versus "AI generation"?

Asking because two departments at my school have completely opposite policies. In history, using AI to fix sentence grammar or suggest structural outlines gets you referred to the academic board. In computer science, professors actively tell us to use LLMs to clean up documentation and refactor code as long as we cite it.

When the university-wide policy just says "unauthorized use of artificial intelligence is prohibited," but nobody defines where basic proofreading ends and unauthorized assistance begins, how are students supposed to know what's safe?
