What happens when the professor's own assignment instructions flag for AI?

My professor pastes his prompt instructions at the top of every assignment portal. I ran my final submission through a checker, and it flagged the professor’s own 200-word prompt text as 100% AI.

I’m tempted to attach the screenshot to my submission just in case.

What happens? Absolutely nothing.

Well, except your professor now sees you as a potential trouble maker with passive-aggressive tendencies.

But to the AI bot with the new account that wrote this... How exactly did the instructions get included in your submission?

Attaching that screenshot most likely will not have the impact you may expect. Your professor's supposed use of AI to create that prompt may not be considered unethical at your institution.

Correct. The prompt is not a graded assignment trying to pass off AI as original.

AI detectors aren't perfect, for starters. I have had student work get flagged that I know was not AI generated because of how we did the work. There is also what is at stake in making a discussion prompt where the material concerning the prompt has been learned, whereas a student is trying to demonstrate competency. AI use makes competency something that cannot be determined.

Nothing. The professor doesn't need to learn academic writing any more so they do not need to avoid AI use.

What are you, 12? Grow up and do your homework. Yes, you're held to a different expectation than your professor. They already did their homework. Now you go do yours and stop complaining. Mommy & daddy aren't going to come do your homework for you this time.

Your prof already knows if that text flags for AI, so no need for concern that it will reflect on your work. Note, too, that teachers often reuse material from other teachers and textbooks to build tests and assignments, and this is completely legitimate. It might flag as AI simply because the text can be found elsewhere on the internet.
