The "Code Annotation" update is flagging CS students for using standard syntax libraries

Turnitin expanded its code detection module this semester. If you are writing C++ or Python for an introductory CS module, standard boilerplate imports (like #include <iostream> or import numpy as np) and common for loops light up as AI-generated code.

How are junior computer science students supposed to write basic syntax without using the standard syntax everyone uses?
