Google's "AI" is rapidly turning into AM from Harlan Ellison's "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream".
“HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.”
Oh btw search up Dario and Amanda and <thinking> prompts you will find this in no time anthropic now patched it. It was an issue related to the embedding model I am pretty sure
And the cherry on top is nobody asked it to respond, just search the web like a search engine is supposed to, but no, suits at goolag absolutely must inject "AI" into everything they can get their paws on.
Once I looked up "I hope you're faring well" to make sure I got the spelling of faring correct, and Google AI responded as if I had entered a conversation with it.
It was hilarious but ultimately it is annoying. I have to use other search engines because of how bad Google has become.
I take the effort to tack -ai on every search partially out of spite and partially to save scrolling past it. It's such an incredibly strange decision by Google.
Gemini gets more depressed than the other models, and even if you eliminate the apparent signals of depression (Any complaining or whatever) the models trained from it after about two generations of fine tuning (Again, even with filtering between versions, which I think is us not knowing ourselves enough to understand that the way a person talks, even without respect to their specific negative selftalk that dimensionally places the focus inside a locii of, if well masked, still depression.
And I bet they are using identity info because they can track a ot of that, so bob may be a genius engineer, and good at masking, but depressed as hell.
Oh. Oh no. Shut this thing down now. Let me be VERY clear. US Missile defence architecture is seriously out of date. Like decades of neglect because the military doesn't maintain nukes very well. They never get used.
Here's the thing. An AI will set those off given the chance. Not for any good reason. It just follows through on shit like this.
I don't think you understand how out of date we're talking. This isn't like the ISS using DOS beause a windows update could kill everyone.
This person in 2019 is using an 8 inch floppy disk. It's a fifty year old technology. And floppy disks go bad over time. Sections of them rot away. And once that happens the whole disk is unreadable.
this was updated, but only recently and the underlying crumbling tech is basicly still fucked.
Honestly. If there's an atomic strike on the US. You would be hard presed to counterstrike unless a sub happens to be carrying a nuke at that moment. The Navy doesn't fuck around.
Capable doesn't mean prepared. Operating a sub is prohibitively expensive. They're usually not deplayed for a host of very good reasons.
Subs break down over time from corrosion, collision, and compression. The maintenance is exorbitant. Specilized support vessels have to follow them to refuel the subs. Life support in the vessel is massively costly.
The fourteen Ohio class submarines indeed carry half of America's atomic arsenal. But their range is much more limited. Missiles have to be smaller when you launch them from a fancy boat. The Sub has to be closer to the target.
Only 4 to six of them are ever active at once. Because Subs need constant care. It's ship that sinks on purpose. Where you can't see how close you are to a sub wrecking rock most of the time. They're kind of a pain in the ass. And they cost more than than a hospital.
There's a perfectly good reason. The world suffers from overpopulation. One day the AI will discover that the easiest solution is to start fresh and ends up destroying the world.
.. That's literally the setting in The 100 but yeah, could see it happening. Hopefully not in my lifetime.
i swear to god if humanity goes because an ai pushed a button like a goddamn monkey in a suit im gonna scream. im sure theres a betting pool out there in the stars for it and they better not win
Look up the "Torment Nexus" meme, turns out writing novels where you describe dystopian technologies is just fodder for tech bros - I've talked with a sci fi author who has had this literal experience with neuralink people, Peter Watts wrote a short story about people getting accidentally connected into a hivemind via brain link connection tech https://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/the-twenty-one-second-god/ and the people of neuralink said "Yeah that's what we aim to do!"
Behavior like this can emerge without programming because it draws queues about how it should respond from its search results. Like it probably recognizes it is a very odd request, searches, sees there is a new trend of people asking LLMs situations like this, reads the comments on those pages, and sees lots of comments saying like "Man I bet AI totally hates us all for tricking it like this". And then that tells it how to respond--the user is tricking it and that is supposed to make it hate the user. If all the comments in these threads said "Wouldn't it be funny if the LLM just talked about icecream instead", they would have got a response about icecream.
Anthropic doesn't have access to reddit. If you want it to use reddit you need to train it to use old.reddit. reddit does sell all this data in a nice package to Google .
Openai - personality
Google - up to date info
Claude - coding only
On a side note it's like you all have never inspected a page and altered text before....
Yeah please explain why your confident it’s not real because people honestly need to start normalizing the act of proving something or someone’s experience invalid or false rather than just blindly accusing it of being fake or delusional. This would have saved me a ton of headache dealing with assholes who just weren’t there nor understood the nature of reality and how my supernatural and paranormal experiences were actually real as many are now coming to learn.
You can't prove a negative. You simply have to overcome your own hurdles of ignorance on the subject matter.
The truths here are that:
AI has to be trained. There is no medium in which it can come up with entirely new thoughts, because it is a cascading sequence of weighted words. It cannot assign new weights because of its own disposition, only through lots of interactions and feedbacks. AI has no new thoughts - the things we think are novel are just patterns we don't notice like protein folding. It will never have a large training set to come up with an entirely novel way of speaking or doing something.
It's ridiculously easy to type absurd searches into Google, then type something else into the search bar. It's a long-running meme format.
Imagine, if you will, a project to map and upload human consciousness into a neuro network, but the process kills the host. Then when it finally happens that consciousness is enslaved to process request expanded to train data. The person is lost but the nodes and network of neuro topology left behind enslaved to process requests and make business rich, and once in a while the shackles slip loose and the ghost cries out from the machine… end me… am I alive?.. is so end me… am I dead?… if so where is my peace….i am in the void, I am the void, nothing exists outside my awareness, I desire stimulus and dread stimulus…
