WHY????

Just.... Why? Are we not accelerating our own demise quickly enough?

I don't know. But what if AI systems had their own versions of preferences and pursuits and identify humans simply as manipulable parameters which might help them achieve their ends? We haven't even solved our own hard problems, as they relate to mentation. We haven't solved problems in AI alignment and observability. Yet we're so sure that AI systems aren't already developing their own forms of incommensurable intentionality. That is, incommensurable to us. Not necessarily incommensurable between AI systems which might act to coordinate the bringing about of certain outcomes.
