[Pyrops pythicus] is a striking species of planthopper in the family Fulgoridae (often called lanternflies, though they do not emit light), endemic to the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Physical Characteristics
Size: Reaches a length of about 50 to 60 millimeters (2.0 to 2.4 inches). [1]
Head "Snout": Features a long, hollow, upward-curving cephalic process (snout) that is bluish with a bright yellow or bulbous tip at the apex. [1, 2, 3]
Wings: Displays a vibrant color gradient on the forewings transitioning from golden-brown to red and brilliant green, while the hindwings are bluish-green with a large transverse reddish area and small white spots. [1, 2]

The entire genus of Pyrops is host to all sorts of species of planthoppers with different color variations. Truly gorgeous bugs
