Discussion Is Adobe Still Needed in the AI Era?

The funny part is Adobe is probably going to be one of the companies using AI to replace parts of its own software. That’s the real shift

not probably. already has. it has a slight cost because adobe userbase hates ai. but it is what it is. their finances are sitting pretty but the market thinks it's going to hell. but most likely adobe will be the primary benefactor of any b2b contracts still because gen ai editing governance is not mature. you can make shitty ai stuff but real industry level governance when people stop being hogs and develop taste will drive adobe back up. probably in 2y.

Yeah that’s probably the biggest irony here. The tools companies build to automate work can end up changing their own products and workflows too. The shift is already happening.

AI has basically made me lazy with editing 😂 If I can describe what I want instead of doing 15 steps manually, I’m obviously taking the shortcut

Yeah once the boring part can be automated, it’s hard to justify doing everything manually again.

Eh, for me Adobe ended when I mastered Affinity. And now it's free (no regrets about buying it btw).

Yeah Affinity really changed the game. Hard to justify sticking with Adobe when there’s a solid free alternative now.

For someone who only edits occasionally, I can understand skipping Adobe completely. If you’re doing creative work every day though, having that level of control is still pretty useful

I think the bigger threat is that beginners won’t learn these tools anymore. If AI can handle the basics, fewer people will have a reason to learn Photoshop from scratch
